VONDOHREN AND STOUDT WIN FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
VonDohren and Schutz Win NASCAR Championships
BECHTELSVILLE, PA SEPTEMBER 17, 2006 . . . The first half of the 2006 racing
season was a nightmare for Craig VonDohren. The second half of the season was
like a dream come true. On Saturday night the Oley, PA racer finished his dream
with a story book finish that saw him not only win the BPG Racing/Chad Sinon
Motorsports sponsored 30-lap NASCAR Modified feature race but also claim his
sixth NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified championship at Grandview Speedway.
During the second half of the season VonDohren was able to win the Stauffer
Construction Forrest Rogers Memorial worth $10,000, the T.H.Properties Freedom
76 worth $20,000 and the championship which could be worth close to $20,000
including track and NASCAR point fund money. VonDohren also earned wins in two
regular Saturday night 30-lappers giving him 55 career victories making him the
top Modified winner in track history.
Chuck Schutz did not win the 20-lap Late Model feature on Saturday night, that
honor went to Randy Stoudt for the seventh time this season, but he did manage a
fourth place finish and that was good enough to give the Pottstown, PA racer his
third NASCAR Late Model title at the Berks County oval.
In addition to the title Schutz also won the two big money events of the season
for the Late Model races, the Firecracker 40 and the Chuck Sennott/Jerry Glase/Carol
Heckman Memorial.
Tommy Sheetz Jr. charged to the front on the drop of the green in the 30-lap
main event for Modifieds but dropped out after leading just four laps. Young
Chris Esposito inherited the top spot but that was also short lived as Todd
Marburger, a youngster who battles MS, took command looked as if he would win
his first feature.
At the 16 lap marker Marburger continued to be in charge while point leader Doug
Manmiller was having a tire problem that sent him to the pits bringing out the
caution. Manmiller, who had been involved in an early race second turn incident,
came back to finish 9th but his valiant efforts to win his first track title
fell short.
While Manmiller was having his problems VonDohren was working his way toward the
front from his 14th place starting position. A mid-race rubbing incident in turn
four between Cliff Quinn, VonDohren and Kevin Hirthler could have proved costly
for VonDohren. Hirthler went to the pits while both Quinn and VonDohren were
able to continue.
Marburger was the class of the field with Ray Swinehart and Meme DeSantis,
coming from 21st, challenging. On the 24th lap Swinehart and Marburger both got
high in the fourth turn as they battled for the lead and VonDohren made a bold
move charging past the top three and taking the lead.
At 25 laps it was VonDohren and his BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports No. 1C in
front with Ray Swinehart second and DeSantis third. Marburger, who led most of
the feature laps, was shuffled back to fourth and Sean Merkel, who had
challenged for the lead early, finished fifth. When the checkered flag was
displayed by starter Ray Kemp the finishing order was the same.
Terry Meitzler came from 28th starting spot to finish 6th and earn the
CornerStone Auto Sales of Fleetwood, PA Hard Charger Award.
The Late Models had a tough time getting their 20-lap feature started, a couple
multi-car tangles creating problems, but once they got it going the action was
hot and heavy. Mike Kellner led early with Randy Stoudt coming from 10th to take
the lead on the seventh and set the pace for the balance of the race. The real
action was the battle between Harry Neiman and Mike Kellner as they ran side by
side for second spot. Chuck Schutz was having his own battle for the
championship and fourth place with three time champion John Giesler.
At the finish Stoudt wheeled the TP Trailers No. 22 into victory lane while
Harry Neiman was able to grab second followed by Mike Kellner, Chuck Schutz and
John Giesler.
Qualifying heat races for the Late Models were won by Mike Kellner, Dean Stoudt
and John Giesler.
In the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds qualifying events the wins went to
Ryan Grim, Chris Esposito, Tommy Sheetz Jr., John Tschudy and Donny Erb.
Consolation wins were earned by Randy Bailey, Meme DeSantis and Jeff Strunk.
Five time track champion and seven feature winner Strunk had mechanical problems
sideline him after the consolation win and was not able to start the feature
giving the starting spot to first alternate Bobby Gunther Walsh.
The D&S Archery/Rossi Welding Big Bucks Award worth $10000 to the driver winning
the most NASCAR qualifying heats during the season has four drivers (Jon Kellner
Jr., Don Norris Jr,, Chris Esposito and Tommy Sheets Jr.) tied for the honor
with six wins each.
Open competition Modifieds and Late Models are tentatively scheduled for
Saturday, September 23rd at 7 p.m. plus the added attraction of Slingshots for
the first time.
Coming up on Saturday, October 14th is the final special Thunder on the Hill
five feature show, celebrating Halloween, which will include 25-lap features for
358 Modifieds, Late Models, URC Sprints, ARDC Wingless Midgets and Legends.
Racing will start at 6 p.m.
And on Saturday, October 21st the annual Racers Flea Market will take place
starting at 6 a.m.

VONDOHREN WINS THIRD T.H.PROPERTIES FREEDOM 76 AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 10, 2006 . . . Earlier in the
season Craig VonDohren, a five time track champion, was thinking about quitting.
On Saturday night the Oley, PA racer was glad he stayed in the sport that has
been a part of his life since he was a kid. The veteran stock car racer drove
the Chad Sinon owned BPG Racing/Stauffer Construction No. 1C to his third
T.H.Properties Freedom 76 Modified Classic win claiming $20,000 at Grandview
Speedway.
In the first half of the season VonDohren had been struggling trying to stay in
the chase for a sixth track championship and had talked about quitting. I was
ready to give up, was his comment in victory lane. His season turned for the
better, much better, when he won the Stauffer Construction Forrest Rogers
Memorial worth $10,000. During victory lane ceremonies, while hold the huge
$20,000 check, the all time leading Modified feature winner (54) thanked car
owner Chad Sinon for sticking with him and had high praise for Main Engines and
his crew.
VonDohren, who won the Classic back in 1985 and 2001, came from 15th starting
spot to claim the win over a talented field of 35 starters in front of a large
turnout of fans.
Dirt track Modified stock car racing legend Kenny Brightbill started on the pole
for the 76 lap race by luck of the draw. However Greg Humlhanz, starting outside
of Brightbill, grabbed the lead before the first lap was completed.
On lap three Billy Pauch, a pre-race favorite since he had won the Freedom 76
six times, had his car catch fire bringing out the red flag. Larry Solomons
mount also caught fire after riding through the Pauch flames. Both racers were
able to continue but were not factors dropping out before the checkered flag was
displayed.
On the restart Humlhanz continued his domination of the race. At 11 laps Mike
Bailey stopped in turn four bringing out a caution and bunching up the field.
Kyle Weiss was now a factor on the restart putting heavy pressure on the leader.
One lap later David VanHorn, running in the top five, ended up in the first turn
wall and was done for the night.
Again, with 13 laps in the record book, Humlhanz continued to dominate with
Weiss challenging.
Five time track champion Jeff Strunk, a former race winner and a popular fan
favorite, had a tire go down on the 18th lap and then tangled with Jason Smythe
while trying to get his car to the pits for a tire change. The contact between
Strunk and Smythe put both racers out of action.
At the 19 lap marker Kyle Weiss put his Schaeffers Harley Davison No. 21k in
first. Weiss was the dominator lap after lap but at 30 laps had Danny Erb
nipping at his rear. The top five was Weiss, Erb, Humlhanz, Brightbill and Billy
Pauch Jr.
With 45 laps in the record book Danny Erb, put on a spectacular show chasing
leader Weiss, saw his hopes of a Freedom 76 win go up in smoke. The resulting
caution to tow Erb off the track turned into a red as racers were given the
opportunity to add fuel. With cautions included 75 laps had been run to this
point.
On the restart Kyle Weiss resumed command but just four laps later Ray Swinehart
lost a wheel on his No. 33 and hit the third turn wall putting last years
Freedom 76 winner out of the event.
At 50 laps Kyle Weiss had his hands full trying to hold off the strong challenge
from Craig VonDohren who had been kept busy working his way from 15th starting
spot. And two laps later VonDohren tool control. Three laps later VonDohrens
teammate Ryan Watt, coming from 16th, took over second spot, with Billy Pauch
Jr., Weiss and Humlhanz chasing.
On the 66th circuit of the one-third-mile banked clay oval Jon Kellner brought
his Hutts Glass No. 85AM to a stop in the fourth turning bringing out the
caution for the final time.
The final laps saw VonDohren run the low groove protecting his turf and holding
off challenges from young Ryan Watt. At the finish VonDohren had a comfortable
command of the race with Watt (Phoenixville) getting second, good for $10,000.
Billy Pauch Jr. (Frenchtown, NJ) came home third with an impress effort. Doug
Manmiller (Wyomissing), the current NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified point
leader at Grandview, came from 25th to finish fourth. Kyle Weiss (Jalapa)
finished fifth after leading the most laps of the three race leaders.
Meme DeSantis, who made the race with a past winners provisional, came from
34th starting spot to finish 6th and claim the $250 Hard Charger Award courtesy
of CornerStone Auto Sales of Fleetwood, PA.
Randy Bailey, missed qualifying for the Freedom 76 by one position in the
Minuteman 20, was voted the Hard Luck Award winner and received $200 from
T.P.Trailers of Limerick, PA and driving shoes plus other merchandise courtesy
of Area Auto Racing News of Trenton, NJ.
Qualifying heat wins for the close to 70 racers on hand went to Jason Hamilton,
Rick Schaffer, Mike Ricci, Billy Pauch Jr., Kevin Hirthler and Mike Bailey.
The consolation races were won by Don Norris Jr., Chris Esposito and Steve
Swinehart giving the trio starting spots in the Schaffer Motorsports Minuteman
20 last chance race.
The $1000 to win Cash Dash was won by Billy Pauch Jr. with an impressive run in
the 10 lap event in Mike DiNatales No. 11D.
Tom Mayberry, who won the Freedom 76 20 years back, took the top spot in the
Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20. Shawn Reimert claimed second followed by
John Willman, Steve Swinehart and Tommy Sheetz Jr. The top five earned spots in
the Freedom 76.
At least $10,000 waits for the NASCAR Modified Champion when the final point
race of the season is presented at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September
16th at 7 p.m. In addition the final point races for NASCAR Late Model stock
cars will draw a lot of attention. Doug Manmiller, looking for his first
Modified title, will try to hold off five time champion Craig VonDohren in the
chase for the title. Randy Stoudt will try to catch Chuck Schutz in the battle
for the Late Model title. Both racers have won the Late Model title twice
before. The entire night of racing will be sponsored by BPG Racing and Chad
Sinon Motorsports.
Open competition Modifieds and Late Models are tentatively scheduled for
Saturday, September 23rd at 7 p.m. An added attraction will be a first time

RAIN MOVES POINTS FINAL TO SEPTEMBER 16TH,
T.H.PROPERTIES FREEDOM 76 MODIFIED CLASSIC OFFERS $20,000 TO WIN ON SEPTEMBER
9TH AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 2nd, 2006 . . . Rain, the kind that makes people
start planning to build an ark, forced postponement of the scheduled final point
races for NASCAR Modified and Late Model stock car racers on Saturday night at
Grandview Speedway. The BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports sponsored night of
racing has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 16th.
We just dont think it is fair to have the point battle finish with two
rainouts, said track owner Bruce Rogers. It is such a close battle in both
divisions that we just think the best way to handle it is to try to get one
final point race completed.
All attention is now turned to the grand-daddy of the big money 358 Modified
events with $20,000 waiting for the winner of the T.H. Properties Freedom 76
Modified Classic on Saturday, September 9th.
Chad Brachman is the latest outsider to let Grandview Speedway officials know
he will be trying to qualify for the $20,000 to win T.H.Properties Freedom 76
Modified Classic. Brachman is a top performer at Ransomville, NY Speedway where
he has a feature win and six top five finishes.
Brachman joins a long list of top dirt track modified stock car racing talents
including six time Freedom 76 winner Billy Pauch, Kenny Brightbill, Meme
DeSantis, Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, 2005 Freedom 76 winner Ray Swinehart,
current track Modified point leader Doug Manmiller and a host of others that
will be trying to make the 40-car starting field and have a chance at the
$20,000 first place money.
We have had phone calls from a number of racers that normally do not race at
Grandview, said track public relations director Ernie Saxton. There have been
a lot of requests for information and that just may make for some interesting
visitors for the Freedom 76.
At 3 p.m. race cars will be on display, fans will have chances to collect
autographs, take photographs and enjoy some great music. Lew Boyd of Coastal
Publishing will also be on hand with a large selection of their outstanding auto
racing books including their newest release titled Paved Track Dirt Track
which traces the history of the old Nazareth Speedway and Old Bridge, NJ
Stadium. Warmups will start at about 6:15 p.m. with qualifying events getting
the green at 7 p.m.
Adult tickets are priced at $25, childrens tickets (6 thru 11) are $7 and under
6 are admitted free with a paying adult. Gates for advance ticket holders open
at 1:30 p.m. while ticket windows open at 2 P.M. Pit gates open at 10 a.m. There
is free parking on the speedway grounds. There is no NASCAR license required to
enter the pit area for the Freedom 76.
Advance tickets will be on sale at the speedway on Friday, September 8th at 6
p.m. in the first turn area.
Should rain force postponement of the T.H. Properties Freedom 76 the race would
be run on Saturday, September 16th following the same schedule and the final
point races (BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports Night) would be moved to
Saturday, September 23rd at 7 p.m.
Just 15 laps remain unsponsored for the T.H. Properties Freedom 76. Lap
sponsorships are priced at $10 and $25. To sponsor a lap telephone Ernie Saxton

POINT CHASE DOWN TO ONE RACE AS RAIN WASHES OUT SATURDAY NIGHT RACING
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 26, 2006 . . . Rain has tightened up the point chase at
Grandview Speedway.
With NASCAR Modified and Late Model racers looking forward to the next to last
point race of the season Ma Nature had a different idea and dumped some rain on
the one-third-mile, banked clay track forcing track operator Bruce Rogers to
cancel the Saturday night program of racing.
We had the makings of a great evening of racing. The point chase is close in
both the Modifieds and the Late Models, said Rogers. Now Ma Nature has made it
an even closer battle with just the races next Saturday night to decide the
titles. That is going to be a very exciting night of racing.
It is disappointing that the Mavericks Motorcycle Club Night had to be
postponed. We will try to do something with the couple shows we have left. They
had some great plans for tonight raising money for the Alexs Lemonade Stand
cancer charity.
Racing action returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 2nd at 7:30
p.m. with Chad Sinon Motorsports/BPG Racing sponsoring the night for NASCAR
Modifieds and Late Models. Doug Manmiller leads the NASCAR Modified standings
with Craig VonDohren close behind in second. In the Late Models it is Chuck
Schutz, the point leader, in a close battle with six feature winner Randy Stoudt.
The Modified Champion earns $10,000 for the title. In addition the champion gets
to take a guest with him on the 10-day Champions Cruise as a guest of the
speedway. The trip is worth in excess of $3,000. The cruise out of New York City
stops at six Caribbean Islands. More than 50 people will be part of the trip and
there are just three cabins still open for the trip. Telephone Marilyn Saxton at
215.752.2392 for more information. At present Craig VonDohren is seventh in the
Division II NASCAR standings and that can be worth about $8,000 to him at the
end of the season.
Those not involved in the point chase will be looking to improve on their
finishing positions for the season and using the race to get ready for the rich
T.H.Properties Freedom 76 Modified Classic coming up on Saturday, September 9th.
That race will be $20,000 to the winner.
Lap sponsorships at $10 and $25 are available by telephoning Ernie Saxton at

STRUNK GETS SEVENTH WIN, SCHUTZ EARNS HIS SECOND BIG WIN AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 20, 2006 . . . We either win or not qualify seems to
be our way at Grandview, said five time track Modified champion Jeff Strunk
after charging to his seventh win of the season taking the 30-lap Allstate
NASCAR Modified feature on Saturday night. It was the seventh win of the season
for the Bethel, PA racer after missing qualifying for the feature for two weeks
in a row.
The 30-lap NASCAR Late Model feature, run in memory of former track employees
Carol Heckman and Jerry Glase along with Chuck Sennott who was an outstanding
Late Model stock car racing, had one of the closest finishes seen at Grandview
in a long time. Chuck Schutz of Pottstown was able to hold on for the win
despite a serious challenge by Ron Kline on the final lap that saw him fall
short by the narrowest of margin.
Tommy Sheetz Jr. (Boyertown) looked as if he was going to have the greatest
night of his life in NASCAR Modified racing as he went to the front on the drop
of the green and lead all the laps up to and including the 27th circuit of the
30-lap feature race. While Sheetz was set the pace and holding off challenges
from a variety of racers, looking for his first career victory, Jeff Strunk was
charging toward the front with his Gold Rush Trailers #126. Strunk had started
14th and was running in the top five by the 16th lap and was challenging for the
lead with four laps to go. The two had been going back and forth with the lead
but with 28 laps down Strunk was in front to stay to pick up the $2350 first
place money which included a $150 bonus from Allstate. The win his 40th career
victory at the Bechtelsville oval
Strunk told fans from victory lane that he had run the last ten laps without
front brakes.
. Second spot went to Tommy Sheetz Jr. for his best effort ever in NASCAR
Modified feature racing. He made Strunk word hard for the win. Third place as
earned by Craig VonDohren (Oley) followed by Steve Swinehart (Bechtelsville) and
Doug Man miller (Wyomissing).
With his fifth place finish Manmiller retained just a 26 point edge over
VonDohren in his quest for his first NASCAR Modified title with just two point
events remaining.
VonDohren did earn the CornerStone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award coming from
21st to finish 3rd earning him $50.
The Late Model 30-lapper, paying $1000 to win plus some other bonus dollars
awards, had Lou Egrie in front at the drop of the green. Egrie, who has
challenged for victories the last three weeks in a row, let Ron Kline in front
on the sixth circuit of the one-third-mile, banked clay oval. For the next few
laps Egrie and Kline went back and forth for the top spot with Chuck Schutz
working his way toward the front from his 11th starting spot.
At 19 laps Schutz got past Kline for the first time but then the race was back
and forth, swapping the lead battle, until the 27th lap when Schutz went to a
clear lead. However coming off the fourth turn on the final lap Kline charged to
a challenge of Schutz and the leader was ready holding off Kline as the two
charged toward the checkered flag. Schutz was just the narrowest margin in front
of Kline at the finish line. Second spot went to Ron Kline (East Greenville)
followed by Harry Neiman (Bower Beach, DE), Brian Shuey (Hamburg) and early
leader Lou Egrie (Willow Grove).
Schutz also earned the CornerStone Auto Sales Hard Charger for going from 11th
to first in the feature race. The award goes to the driver able to improve the
most positions in the feature race.
With Schutz able to win and his challenger in the Late Model point race, Randy
Stoudt, only able to gain a ninth place finish, Schutzs lead is now at 99
points with just two point events remaining in the season.
The Fab Five event featuring the top five in Late Model points in an eight
lapper was won by Brian Shuey.
Heat race victories went to Lou Egrie, Dean Stoudt and Chuck Schutz.
Qualifying heat wins for the Modifieds were earned by Glenn Owens, Todd
Marburger, Tommy Sheetz Jr., John Tschudy and Doug Manmiller. Consolation wins
were earned by Amanda Spotts, Craig VonDohren and Danny Erb.
During the evening many drivers went into the grandstands with their helmets in
hand to collect money for the Kenny Gilmore Family. More than $2700 has been
collected at the speedway for the Modified racer who was injured in a highway
accident and will be out of the sport until next season.
The NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models get back in action on Saturday, August 26th
with the Mavericks Motorcycle Club Night starting at 7:30 p.m. This will be a
fundraising effort for the Alexs Lemonade Stand Charity with the sale of a
variety of Alexs merchandise. And the final point race event, the night that
decides who wins the lucrative point battles, takes place on Saturday, September
2nd with Modifieds and Late Models racing at 7:30 p.m. BPG Racing and Chad Sinon
Motorsports will be sponsoring the night for the third straight year.

CRAIG VONDOHREN AND RANDY STOUDT VISIT GRANDVIEW VICTORY LANE AGAIN
BECHTELSVILLE, PA AUGUST 13, 2006 . . . For more than half of the season Craig
VonDohren couldnt catch a break but his luck has taken a definite change for
the better as the five time track champion was able to win the 30-lap NASCAR
Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday
night. The win, worth $2200, was his second in a row on the one-third-mile,
banked clay oval wheeling the BPG Racing/Stauffer Construction No. 1c Modified.
Randy Stoudt drove to his sixth win of the season in the 20-lap NASCAR Late
Model feature wheeling the TP Trailers/Rogers Auto Parts No. 22.
John Tschudy went to the front at the drop of the green and set the pace. In the
Modified feature. Mike Gular took a hard hit into the backstretch wall bringing
out the caution on the third circuit. Gular was shaken but not injured. On the
restart Ryan Grim charged to the front with Shawn Reimert giving chase. At 15
laps Glenn Owens brought out the caution spinning in turn four and on the
restart Shawn Reimert took control but Craig VonDohren used that restart to
charge from eighth to fourth. Three laps later he was third behind Reimart and
Tom Umbenhauer. A restart after a caution on the 19th lap saw VonDohren charge
to the front and that is where the Oley racer stayed until the checkered flag
fell.
Shawn Reimert (Oley) came home second after leading the race for a few laps
midway in the 30 lapper. Terry Meitzler (Kutztown) managed to grab third on the
final lap while Tom Umbenhauer (Richland) and Ray Swinehart (Bechtelsville)
followed.
VonDohren came from 16th starting spot to grab the win and in victory lane
pointed out that he had a good car, a good motor and had a lot of luck. The
winner of 53 career victories had praise for the track indicating that both the
top and bottom grooves were good.
Danny Erb earned the Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award. The Boyertown
racer had to use his backup car to qualify for the feature. He started 29th and
gained 22 spots to finish seventh.
With Meme DeSantis, the point leader going into the night of racing, not making
the feature because of mechanical problems, Doug Manmiller took back the top
point position with 2982 counters. Craig VonDohren, who seemed to have no chance
for another title, is now second in points with 2938. Six feature winner Jeff
Strunk also had mechanical problems that kept him from the feature lineup.
Lou Egrie looked like he might be able to make up for the one that got away from
him on the previous Saturday. That was the night that Mike Kellner beat him to
the finish line on the last lap after he had lead for 19 circuits of the 20 lap
feature. On Saturday night Egrie again was in control early but for just about
half the race with Randy Stoudt, coming from 12th, taking the top spot about
midway of the 20 lapper and making it look easy as he won his sixth of the
season and the 36th of his career.
The Pottstown racer was a comfortable margin in front of second place Egrie
(Willow Grove) while four time Late Model champion Dean Stoudt (East Greenville)
charged home third. Defending champion Ron Kline (East Greenville) came home
fourth followed by Mark Malcolm (Hatfield).
Stoudt, like VonDohren, claimed that he got some luck and got some breaks
getting through traffic on his way to the win.
With a sixth place finish Chuck Schutz managed to hold on to his point lead with
3712 points followed very closely by Randy Stoudt with 3695. Both drivers are
going for their third titles at Grandview Speedway.
The 15-lap feature for Rolling Thunder Legends was won by Rod Kistler of
Kempton, PA with a dominating performance that saw him lead the majority of
laps. Kistler, who won a feature at Grandview two years back, was at the wheel
of the Total Performance Collision Center No. 99. Second spot went to Josh
Morrow followed by Jason Rochelle, Steve Nederostek and Tim Tomson.
Qualifying heats for the Legends were won by Roy Danner, Tim Tomson and Ronnie
Dunstan.
In the Late Models qualifiers were won by Lou Egrie, Harry Neiman and Ron Kline.
And in Modifieds the preliminary heat races went to Rick Schaffer, Ryan Grim,
Craig VonDohren, Tommy Sheetz Jr. and Ray Swinehart while consolations wins were
taken by Bobby Gunther Walsh, Kevin Hirthler and Doug Manmiller.
The NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models are in action on Saturday, August 19th at
7:30 p.m. with the Late Models presenting a 30-lap Memorial race run in memory
of two former track employees Carol Heckman and Jerry Glase along with the late
Chuck Sennott who was an outstanding Late Model stock car racer. The night is
sponsored by Allstate. Only three races remain in the chase for the
championships in both divisions.
Coming up on Tuesday, August 22nd is another great event in the Thunder on the
Hill Series with a five feature show that includes 410 Sprints, 358 Modifieds,
Legends, 600cc Micro Sprints and 600 Modifieds. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m.

VONDOHREN WINS STAUFFER CONSTRUCTION FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL WORTH $10,000
MIKE KELLNER GETS SECOND OF SEASON IN LATE MODEL STOCKS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA AUGUST 6, 2006 . . . If you are going to get your first win of
the season why not make it on a night when there is $10,000 waiting for the
winner and why not do it when the race carries your sponsors name? That is
exactly what five time track champion Craig VonDohren did on Saturday night at
Grandview Speedway picking up $10,000 for his victory in the Stauffer
Construction Forrest Rogers Memorial, a 50-lap race for the NASCAR Modifieds.
Mike Kellner came on strong in the final laps to grab the victory by inches in
the 20-lap NASCAR Late Model feature race.
Cliff Quinn charged to the front of the 30-car starting field on the drop of the
green and was in command until the seventh lap when young Chris Esposito went to
the front. A few laps later Mike Gular, who looked like a man on a mission, took
control of the race and built up comfortable leads a couple of times only to
have the leads disappear because of cautions.
At the 31-lap marker Gular still had his T.H.Properties entry in front of the
field but was being challenged by Terry Meitzler. It was about this time that
former champion Meitzler was able to move to the front. Gular took the top spot
back on lap 32 and Meitzler was able to regain it on the 33rd lap. Just a couple
of laps later last years winner Ray Swinehart, making a charge toward the
front, had to drop out with a flat tire.
Meitzler was in charge but being challenged by Craig VonDohren who had brought
his BPG Racing/Stauffer Construction #1c to second spot from a 15th starting
position. At 42 laps VonDohren was able to take the lead and earn the victory.
The win, his 52nd career win but just the Oley racers first of the season, put
him in the record books as the all time leading modified winner at Grandview.
VonDohren claimed in victory lane that the win was a lot of luck. Qualifying
was tough. said the five time track champion. We took our time. It was a long
race.
Second spot went to Danny Erb (Boyertown) coming on strong in the final laps to
challenge the leader on the final circuit of the one-third-mile, clay banked
oval. Meitzler (Kutztown) came home third followed by Mike Gular (Harleysville)
and Doug Man miller (Wyomissing).
Meme DeSantis, with a ninth place finish from a 25th starting spot, remained the
point leader by a narrow margin with Doug Manmiller second and Craig VonDohren
putting himself in the chase as he now sits third in the standings.
Six time feature winner Jeff Strunk had another tough night with his regular
mount damaged when he tangled with a spinning competitor. Strunk tried to
qualify with a back-up car from another racer but had a wheel come off putting
him out of the qualifying event and out of the feature.
The Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award for the Modifieds, unofficially,
went to Shawn Reimert coming from a 30th starting spot to finish 13th gaining 17
positions. The award is worth $100.
The 20-lap Late Model feature saw Lou Egrie take the lead on the drop of the
green and that is where he stayed for 19 laps. Egrie was running a smooth and
steady pace in a feature race that had very few cautions. Mike Kellner seemed to
have nothing for the leader as he ran second for many laps. However in the late
stages of the event Kellner seemed to come awake and started to reel in Egrie.
On the final lap Kellner and Egrie came off turn four side-by-side with Kellner
able to win the race by just a few inches. It was the second win of the season
for the Lansdale, PA racer and his Patriot GMC entry. Second spot went to Egrie
(Willow Grove) followed by Mark Malcolm ( Hatfield), Randy Stoudt (Pottstown)
and four time track champion Dean Stoudt (East Greenville).
Qualifying heats for the Late Models were won by Egrie, Kellner and Chuck Schutz.
In the Modified qualifying events wins went to John Tschudy, Tommy Sheetz, Jr.,
Terry Meitzler, Shawn Reimert, Danny Erb and Ray Swinehart. Consolation races
were won by Jason Smythe, Tom Umbenhauer and Meme DeSantis.
Just four races are left in the chase for the lucrative NASCAR Modified and Late
Model point championships at Grandview Speedway. Jeff Strunk won his fifth title
last season and took home close to $25,000 in point money at the end of the
season. Meme DeSantis, Doug Manmiller and Craig VonDohren are in a battle for
the Modified title. The chase for the Late Model championship is also close
between Chuck Schutz and Randy Stoudt.
The racers will be looking to earn valuable points on Saturday, August 12th when
the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models are in action along with the Rolling
Thunder Legends with racing getting the green at 7:30 p.m.

STRUNK AND STOUDT WIN AGAIN AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 30, 2006.
.The weather wasnt the only thing that was hot
at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. Jeff Strunk showed he is the hottest
talent at Grandview right now as he came from 16th starting spot to win his
sixth NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature as part of 3M Night presented
by Jesse Baro Trucking. Randy Stoudt was able to come on strong in the final
laps of the 20-lapper for NASCAR Late Models to win his fifth of the season.
Cliff Quinn lead the 32 car starting field to the green and set the pace for the
first 11 laps with Ray Swinehart charging to the front and he looked as if his
No. 33 PK Moyer sponsored Modified was the car to beat. He and challenger Craig
VonDohren, having come from 14th starting spot, put on quite a battle for the
top spot. At the 19 lap marker Swinehart had the engine quit between three and
four putting him out of the race and giving the lead to five time track champion
VonDohren.
While all this was going on five time champ Jeff Strunk was making his way to
the front from his 16th starting spot and moved up to challenge VonDohren with
20 laps in the record book.
With 24 laps complete Steve Swinehart and Chris Esposito had their own personal
feud going on that had officials sending them to the pits. The incident caused a
caution and on the restart Strunk, who calls Bethel home, was able to put the
Gold Rush Custom Trailers/Touch of Green No. 126 Modified in front and lead the
rest the of the laps to claim the $2,200 first place money. Second spot went to
VonDohren (Oley) followed by Tom Umbenhauer (Richland), Mike Gular
(Harleysville) and Danny Erb (Boyertown).
Point leader Doug Manmiller spun in turn four late in the race and had to be
towed to the pits. Jon Kellner, Sr. one of the top three in the standings was
sent to the pits midway in the race for bringing out an intentional caution.
When the nights action was over Meme DeSantis moved back in front of the point
standings with just a narrow margin over Manmiller while Kellner maintained
third spot.
Strunk had high praise for his Larry Lombardo aluminum cylinder head motor but
said they needed to work on the handling of the chassis. He was also quick to
praise the track surface saying, You could not ask for a better surface.
Meme DeSantis earned the CornerStone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award starting 32nd
(using a provisional) and charging through the pack to earn a ninth place finish
in the Modified feature race.
Lou Egrie, a two time Late Model champion, looked like he was going to win his
first of the season as he lead the field to the green, survived a multi car
accident on the first lap, and set the pace for eight laps. Chuck Schutz, coming
from 11th starting spot, took over the top spot with nine laps complete with
Egrie and two time champion Randy Stoudt challenging. With 14 laps in the record
book Stoudt was able to put his Rogers Auto Parts/TP Trailers No. 22 in front of
the pack and that is where the Pottstown racer stayed until the checkered flag
flew. Chuck Schutz, also a two time champion from Pottstown, finished second
followed by Lou Eqrie (Willow Grove), Brian Shuey (Hamburg) and Rick Todorow
(Quakertown).
Stoudt praised the strong effort by Schutz in Victory Lane and told fans he was
awful on the bottom of the track and he was able to gain the victory much
because of Schutz choosing the low groove. He pointed out that he it was great
to see a two groove race track again at Grandview.
Qualifying heat wins for the Modifieds were earned by Colt Harris, Ray Swinehart,
Don Norris Jr., Rich Wisdo and Sean Merkel. Consolation wins went to Rick
Schaffer, Ryan Watt and Kevin Hirthler. Qualifying event wins in the Late Models
were taken by Lou Egrie, Brian Shuey and Mike Kellner.
The Stauffer Construction Forrest Rogers Memorial, a 50-lap classic for NASCAR
Modifieds paying $10,000 to the winner, will be the attraction at Grandview
Speedway on Saturday, August 5th at 7:30 p.m. The first 200 youngsters will be
admitted free courtesy of Stauffer Construction. Late Models will be the second
part of the night of racing. Adult admission will be $20.
Dover International Speedway will have their Tire Change Challenge on the
grounds with great prizes.

GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY NASCAR SATURDAY NIGHT ACTION RAINED OUT
PROMOTER ROGERS CONSIDERING BOAT RACING
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 22, 2006 . . . We just may have to consider boat racing
here at Grandview Speedway, said track owner and promoter Bruce Rogers. We
have been inundated with rain in our area. We have had more than a foot of rain
in the last month and it seems like it all happens on weekends.
Rain again washed out NASCAR stock car racing at Grandview Speedway on Saturday
night. Scheduled was one of the most popular sponsor events of the season with
Hatfield Quality Meats planning to offer free samples of some of their great
products along with free prizes for fans plus an appearance of their mascot,
Smiley, who is always popular with the kids.
Efforts will be made to reschedule the Hatfield Quality Meats Night but with a
total of six Saturday night rainouts so far this season the chances of finding a
new night for them this season is not looking good.
NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models will return to Grandview Speedway on Saturday,
July 29th with the running of 3M Night presented by Jesse Baro Trucking. At
least 13 events of stock car racing are planned for the 7:30 p.m. show.
With the rainouts there has be a concern for some of the racers who were
counting on those events to make a charge toward the front in the lucrative
NASCAR point battles, said Rogers. Each race canceled is a lost opportunity
for those racers to close in on the leaders. We have very close point battles in
both the Modifieds and the Late Models.
Doug Manmiller is looking toward winning his first track championship in the
Modifieds but he has just a 67 point edge over Meme DeSantis and a 184 point
edge over third place Jon Kellner. Five time Modified champion Jeff Strunk has
mounted a charge toward the front with five wins and is less than 500 points
behind and with the new handicapping system that is in place and most of the top
runners having used all their provisional starts just about anything could
happen.
In the Late Models Chuck Schutz is in front of the point battle going after his
third track title. Randy Stoudt, winner of four features this season, is second
just 134 points behind. Harry Neiman is third while defending titleholder Ron
Kline holds fourth and Brian Shuey is fifth. Less than 200 points separates the
top five.
Coming up is a rich event for the NASCAR Modifieds with the Stauffer
Construction Forrest Rogers Memorial being presented on Saturday, August 5th.
This is a 50-lapper that pays $10,000 to the winner. The race is named in honor
of the man who had the dream, created the plan and built the one-third-mile,
banked clay oval that opened in 1963. The event always attracts a large field of
entries. The Late Models will also be part of the 7:30 p.m. show.
Grandview Speedway is a one-third-mile banked clay oval located on Passmore Road
just off Route 100 in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For racing

JEFF STRUNK GETS FIFTH WIN WHILE RON KLINE GETS SECOND VICTORY IN NASCAR
STOCK CAR RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 16, 2006 . . . Giving high praise to the track conditions
five time NASCAR track champion Jeff Strunk celebrated his fifth win of the
season on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. The Bethel, PA racer came from
13th starting spot to win the 30-lap USG NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified
feature race.
In the companion 20-lap main event for NASCAR Late Models Ron Kline of East
Greenville, PA drove to his second win of the season as he continues to defend
his championship won in 2005.
Greg Humlhanz took the lead in the 30-lap Modified main event at the drop of the
green and set the pace for 22 laps holding off challenges from Barry Readinger,
Sean Merkel and Terry Meitzler. However on the 22nd circuit of the
one-third-mile, clay banked oval Meitzler, a former Modified champion, drove to
the front with Jeff Strunk close behind. For the next few laps there was a wild,
fan pleasing three car battle for the top spot between Meitzler, Strunk and five
time champion Craig VonDohen. At the 28-lap marker Strunk put his Wills
Equipment Painting/Big Spring Car Wash No. 88 in front of the pack and set the
pace for the balance of the 30-lap main event with Meitzler close behind.
The win was worth $2,200 for Strunk and continued his quest for a sixth track
title. He has won in four of his last five appearances at Grandview.
Strunk dedicated the win to his car owner, Will Swoyer, who is currently in the
hospital with some health problems.
Second spot went to Meitzler (Kutztown) followed by Craig VonDohren (Oley) for
one of his best efforts of the season. VonDohren came from 14th starting spot.
Last weeks feature winner Doug Man miller (Wyomissing) gained a fourth place
finish coming from 16th. Steve Swinehart (Bechtelsville) had a strong effort as
the youngster gained a fifth place.
Unofficially Meme DeSantis earned the CornerStone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award
coming from 24th to finish seventh, a gain of 17 positions.
Four time Late Model champion Dean Stoudt lead the charge to the first turn when
the green flag was unfurled by starter Ray Kemp for the 20-lap Late Model
feature. Stoudt, looking like the champion of old, set the pace for the first
four laps. Buddy Wharton got to the front when Stoudt had some problems in the
first turn. Whartons front running position was short-lived as Ron Kline,
coming from fifth starting spot, went to the front with his own V&M Towing
Service No. 3. However the real excitement started when four feature winner and
two time Late Model champion Randy Stoudt charged up to challenge Kline. The
final five laps saw the duo run side-by-side in a battle for the victory At the
finish Kline had a slim lead on challenger Stoudt who had to settle for second.
Kline said in victory lane that Stoudt brings something out in you and that
makes you run harder. He also pointed out that the battle that he and Stoudt put
on was what keeps bringing fans back to Grandview Speedway.
Randy Stoudt (Pottstown) was second followed by Harry Neiman (Bower Beach, DE)
who came up to challenge the top two in the final laps. In fourth was
Firecracker 40 winner Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) and Buddy Wharton (Birdsboro)
finished fifth.
Qualifying heat wins for Modified racers as part of USG Night went to Chris
Esposito, Greg Humlhanz, Steve Swinehart, Craig VonDohren and Barry Readinger.
Consolation victories were earned by Tommy Sheetz Jr., Danny Erb and Tracy
Readinger.
Late Model qualifiers went to Chuck Schutz and Brian Shuey.

MANMILLER STOPS STRUNK STREAK, RANDY STOUDT GETS HIS FOURTH WIN AT
GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 9, 2007 . . . Without his wifes advice Doug Manmiller
may not have been able to win the 30-lap Jeff DAmbrosio Dodge NASCAR Modified
feature race on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.
My wife told me I should be more patient during the feature races, said
Manmiller in victory lane after picking up $2200 for his first Modified win of
the season. So I listened to what she said and I was more patient. It must have
worked.
Randy Stoudt won his fourth Late Model 20-lap feature of the season on Saturday
night and in victory lane said, The track was perfect tonight. Jason Rochelle
of Hackettstown, NJ won the 15-lap Rolling Thunder Legends feature.
Jon Kellner Jr. was quick to the front at the drop of the green and set the pace
for the first 11 laps of the NASCAR Modified feature. Former champion Terry
Meitzler, who had been stalking the leader for several laps, went to the front
on the 12th circuit of the one-third-mile, clay banked oval. Two laps later
Danny Erb, who had started 13th, came up to challenge Meitzler for the top spot.
The two had quite a battle going with Erb finally able to put his mount in front
on the 23rd lap. Just two laps later Erb was taken out of the lead by a spinning
tailender who also caught Meitzler. Erb, after being untangled, was able to
continue but was not a factor in the finish.
Manmiller, at the wheel of the Berks Internal Medicine/Dicks Gulf No. 14, owned
by Rod Breitenstein, was able to take over the lead on the restart with five
laps to go. The Wyomissing, PA racer, his last win coming in July of 2005, was
able to hold off the late race challenge of Jon Kellner to win. The victory was
also the first for the Manmiller/Breitenstein team as they just got together at
the beginning of the season. Manmiller is now on top in the NASCAR Modified
point standings for the first time.
Second spot went to Jon Kellner (Lansdale) who used the outside groove to charge
up to the front from his 15th starting spot but had to settle for the runner-up
position. Kyle Weiss (Jalapa) had another impressive outing with a third place
finish followed by John Willman (Birdsboro), who had come from 30th starting
spot, and Jon Kellner Jr. (Lansdale).
John Willman earned the Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award in the
Modified feature coming from 30th starting spot to finish fourth a gain of 26
positions. Willman will receive a check for $50.
The Late Models were the final feature run during the program that lasted just a
little over three hours. Four time Late Model champion Dean Stoudt put his NO. 5
entry in front of the 20-car starting field at the drop of the green. His lead
lasted for eight laps before Randy Stoudt, they are not related, charged to the
front from his ninth starting positions.
Once in front Stoudt made it look easy as he drove to his 34th official
Saturday night Late Model feature win. The Pottstown racer, driving the Rogers
Auto Parts/TP Trailers NO. 22, had a comfortable lead over defending champion
Ron Kline (East Greenville). Bill Henning (Lansdale) got third for his best
finish of the season. Dean Stoudt (East Greenville) came home fourth with Harry
Neiman (Bower Beach, DE) grabbing fifth.
Chuck Schutz continues to be the point leader in the Late Model division.
Jason Rochelle charged from his eighth place starting spot to take the lead
early in the 15-lap feature and ride to a fairly easy win in the Rolling Thunder
Legends cars feature race. The Hackensack, NJ, who comes from a large family of
racers, was at the wheel of the Glick Fire Equipment sponsored entry. Second
spot was earned by Rodney Kistler while third went to Josh Morrow.
Qualifying events for the Late Models were won by Mark Malcolm, Randy Stoudt and
Ron Kline. In the NASCAR Modified heats the wins went to Tommy Sheetz Jr., Chris
Esposito, Don Norris Jr., Jon Kellner Jr., Rich Wisdo and Todd Marburger. In the
consolation races wins were taken by Rick Schaffer, Mike Gular and Meme DeSantis.
Heat victories for the Legends went to Tom Mayberry, a regular in the Modifieds
at Grandview, Ronnie Dunstan and Jason Rochelle.
RACERS ARE REMINDED that effective with the July 15th event when there are less
than 20 cars starting in the first and second Modified heat races there will be
two cars qualifying out of each of the two events.
When there are 20 cars or more starting in the first and second Modified heats,
there will be three cars qualifying from each event.
In the event of less than 20 cars starting the first two heats, there will be
four cars qualify in the second and third consolation races rather than just
three.
Coming up at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, July 15th is a doubleheader show of
NASCAR Modifieds and Late Model stock cars. At least 13 events of stock car
racing will get the green flag at 7:30 p.m. with USG Sheetrock sponsoring the
night.
DIRT Super Series Big Block Modifieds will be featured in the Traffic Jam 100 on
Wednesday, July 19th at 7:30 p.m. Also included in the show will be the 600

JEFF STRUNK WINS FOURTH OF THE SEASON IN NASCAR MODIFIEDS WHILE CHUCK SCHUTZ
WINS HIS SECOND FIRECRACKER 40 LATE MODEL CLASSIC AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 2, 2006 . . . Early in the season Jeff Strunk was having
trouble qualifying for the NASCAR Modified feature races at Grandview Speedway
now he just keeps winning. The five time track champion who calls Bethel, PA
home drove to his third straight 30-lap NASCAR Modified feature win at Grandview
Speedway on Saturday night. Chuck Schutz of Pottstown was able to win the
Firecracker 40 Late Model Classic for the second time in his career wheeling the
BPG Racing No. One to victory.
Young Todd Smith put his mount in front of the pack at the drop of the green and
held off challenges from Todd Marburger in MFR Enterprises No. 18 for several
laps. With seven laps in the record book Marburger was able to charge to the
front. A race that was caution free for the first 12 laps turned into somewhat
of a destruction derby with numerous cautions dotting the program. On the 15th
lap Kyle Weiss, looking for his second win of the season, went to the front in a
bold move off the fourth turn. At the 20-lap marker Jeff Strunk came into the
picture moving into third and taking the second spot on the 23rd lap. With just
four laps remaining in the feature Strunk put the Big Springs Car Wash/Gold Rush
Trailers No. 88 in front and had a comfortable lead when the checkered flag fell
with 30 laps completed. The win was the fourth of the season for Strunk.
Kyle Weiss (Jalapa) brought the Schaeffers Harley Davidson No. 21K home second
in an impressive effort with Todd Marburger (Boyertown) third. Danny Erb
(Boyertown) came from 14th to finish fourth with five time track champion Craig
VonDohren (Oley) grabbing fifth.
Despite finishing 14th in the feature race current point leader Meme DeSantis
(Temple) continues to lead the point standings in his effort to win his first
Grandview Speedway track championship. DeSantis has 1957 compared to second
place Doug Manmiller (Wyomissing) who has 1918 tallies.
The Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award was earned by Kerry Kratz in the
Garage Door Services sponsored No. 87 who gained 18 positions coming from 31st
starting position, a provisional starting spot, in the Modified feature to
finish 13th.
Four time track Late Model champion Dean Stoudt looked like the man to beat as
he jumped out in front of the Firecracker 40 Late Model field and set the pace
for the first 15 laps. A multi car accident at the 16-lap marker closed up the
field for the restart and Chuck Schutz, who started seventh, charged to the
front. Once in front Schutz, a two time Late Model champion, had things pretty
much under control until there were less than 10-laps remaining. In the final
laps Rick Todorow and Brian Shuey made life difficult for Schutz as they put
heavy pressure on the veteran driver. At the finish Schutz was just a short
distance in front of second place Rick Todorow (Quakertown) and Brian Shuey
(Hamburg). Mark Malcolm (Hatfield) had one of his best career efforts with a
fourth place finish just ahead of Buddy Wharton (Reading).
Defending Late Model champion Ron Kline had a disastrous night as he started the
night as the point leader and dropped out of the feature early after a multi car
accident. He started the evening as the point leader and when the night was over
he was not even in the top five. Former champion Chuck Schutz is the point
leader with Brian Shuey just 35 points behind.
Qualifying event wins for the Late Models went to Schutz, Lou Egrie and Greg
Hoffmaster.
In the qualifiers leading up the Modified feature wins went to Chris Esposito,
Tommy Sheetz Jr., Barry Readinger, Rich Wisdo, Tom Umbenhauer and Kyle Weiss.
Consolation races went to Glenn Owens, Kevin Hartnett and Mike Gular.
Coming up at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, July 8th is a tripleheader show of

RAIN, RAIN AND MORE RAIN WASHES OUT NASCAR RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

We have all of our events pretty much sponsored for the balance of the season,

at Grandview so we want to make it happen.

for the lucrative Modified championship. The champion earns well over $10,000 in
point fund money and a cruise for two, cover 10 days, to six different Caribbean
islands valued in excess of $3,000. In the Late Model division defending
titleholder Ron Kline (East Greenville) has 1928 points compared to Pottstowns
Randy Stoudt with 1901 counters.
Jeff DAmbrosio Dodge of Downingtown, PA, the dealership that provides the track
pace vehicle, will sponsor the July 8th show that will feature the Modifieds,
Late Models and Legends cars.
Other events during July at Grandview Speedway include USG Sheetrock Night
featuring the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models on July 15th, the DIRT Super
Series Big Block Modifieds in a 100 lap event on July 19th, Hatfield Quality
Meats Night showcasing Modifieds and Late Models on July 22nd and on July 29th
it will be 3M Night presented by Jesse Baro Trucking with the Modifieds and Late
Models in the spotlight.
A big event for the NASCAR Modifieds is set for Saturday, August 5th when the
Stauffer Construction Forrest Rogers Memorial is presented. The 50-lap
championship race will pay $10,000 to the winner. The Late Models will also be
included as part of the big event.

STRUNK WINS WITH ONE ARM AND STOUDT TAKES THIRD OF SEASON AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 18, 2006 . . . With one arm tied behind his back Jeff
Strunk held off all competition to win his third NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
Modified stock car 30-lap feature race at Grandview Speedway. That is an
exaggeration but the five time track champion did run the final six laps of the
feature race on Saturday night using one hand to keep the ignition switch on and
the other to drive picking up $2200 beating hard charging Jon Kellner across the
finish line by one-half car length.
In the 17-lap feature for the NASCAR Late Models, part of Norris Mechanical
Contractors Night, Randy Stoudt was able to drive the TP Trailers/Rogers Auto
Parts No. 22 to his third win of the season. The feature was cut to 17 laps from
20 when time ran out on the event that took five cautions to get the first lap
completed.
Don Norris Jr., driving a car sponsored by the race night sponsor, led the race
for nine laps before giving way to Kevin Hartnett after the two had run
side-by-side for a couple laps. Hartnett, a feature winner earlier in the
season, seemed to have things under control until Jeff Strunk charged up from
16th starting spot to give the leader a battle for the top spot. At the 17-lap
marker Strunk took control of the race with his Gold Rush Trailers/Big Spring
Car Wash No. 88.
Once in front the Bethel, PA racer built up a sizeable lead but a caution on the
22nd lap closed the field up behind him. This put Jon Kellner, who came through
the field from 14th, right on the rear of Strunk and set up a torrid battle for
the victory. For the final six laps Kellner, a veteran Grandview campaigner,
tried everything in his bag of tricks to get the lead but fell one-half-car
length short at the finish.
Strunk, who had won a Modified feature the night before at Big Diamond Raceway
in the same race car, told fans during his victory lane interview that he was
forced to run the final six laps with one hand as he held the ignition switch on
with the other.
Second place went to Kellner (Lansdale) followed by Kevin Hartnett (Perkasie),
Ryan Watt (Boyertown) who came from 12th starting spot and Kerry Kratz
(Bechtelsville).
Ray Swinehart, who started 31st in the 33 car feature field using a provisional,
earned the CornerStone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award gaining 20 positions and
finishing 11th.
Less than 10 points separate the top three in the Modified point chase with Meme
DeSantis leading the chase despite mechanical problems forcing him to miss the
feature race on Saturday night. Jon Kellner is second followed by Doug Manmiller.
Track officials announced that effective July lst the Modifieds will be allowed
to run aluminum cylinder heads. The car including the driver will be limited to
2400 pounds. Aluminum wheels will be allowed on cars using aluminum engines and
those cars will be allowed to use the 750cfm carburetor.
The Late Model feature race turned into a demolition derby that exceeded the 30
minute time limit and forced NASCAR officials to toss the checkered flag at the
end of 17 laps. Four time Late Model champion Dean Stoudt was in front of the
pack at the drop of the green but on the second lap Brian Shuey, who won the
opening night feature, went to the front. At lap eight, after a number of
cautions and a red flag, starter Ray Kemp went to a single file restart. Randy
Stoudt, who had started 18th in the feature race, charged to the front on the
14th lap and that is where he stayed for the balance of the race. The Pottstown
racer labeled the feature as awful and said drivers were driving over their
heads. He did praise the track conditions while thanking his sponsors and
engine builder. Second went to Brian Shuey (Hamburg) followed by Chuck Schutz
(Pottstown), Greg Hoff master (Pottstown) and Dean Stoudt (East Greenville).
Qualifying heat races for the Late Models were won by Dean Stoudt (no relation
to the feature winner), Greg Hoffmaster and Ron Kline.
Ron Kline continues to lead the points in the chase for the Late Model crown. He
has just a 27 point edge over Randy Stoudt.
The more than 50 Modifieds on hand used six heats to qualify with heat wins
going to Barry Readinger, Kyle Weiss, Don Norris, Jeff Strunk, Tom Umbenhauer
and Todd Marburger. The consolation races were won by Tommy Sheetz Jr., Donny
Erb and Tom Mayberry.
Coming up on Saturday, June 24th is WNPV-AM Radio Night featuring NASCAR
Modifieds and Late Models in action with a 7:30 p.m. starting time.
And the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass PA Sprint Speedweek 410 sprints will be in action
on Tuesday, June 27th at 7:30 p.m. along with the American Racing Drivers Club
wingless midgets.
Late model stock cars will be in the spotlight on Saturday, July 1st when the
Firecracker 40 is presented plus a full show of NASCAR Modifieds. This special
Holiday show will include FIREWORKS.

STRUNK BECOMES FIRST REPEAT MOD WINNER, SEIDEL TOPS URC SPRINTS, KEPPLER WINS
600 MODIFIED FEATURE AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 11, 2006 . . . Giving high praise to the track conditions
Jeff Strunk became the first repeat winner of the 2006 season in the NASCAR
Modifieds on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway winning the 30-lap Zuber
Realty NASCAR Modified feature race. Former URC champion Brian Seidel lead all
the laps in winning the United Racing Company 25-lap sprint car feature and Mike
Keppler also lead all laps in winning the 20-lap 600 Modified feature race.
Five time track champion Jeff Strunk had been through a difficult few weeks at
Grandview missing the features the last two times out. On this night he was not
to be denied as he got by first lap leader Jon Kellner Jr. on the second lap and
seemed to put the Big Spring Car Wash/Touch of Green Landscaping No.88 on cruise
control leading 29 laps of the feature and picking up $2200 for his winning
efforts. No one was able to challenge Strunk as was able to run the high and low
grooves leading the field to the checkered flag.
The Bethel, PA racer thanked just about everyone he knew in victory lane and
asked track management to keep the track the way it was tonight. He did point
out that his mom was in attendance for the second time this season and that just
may be his good luck charm.
Young Jon Kellner Jr. (Lansdale) had the best night of the season as he was able
to maintain his second place position throughout the event holding off
challenges from several veterans including Mike Bailey (Kutztown) and Tom
Mayberry (Sellersviile) who finished behind him in that order. Fifth place went
to Oleys Tracy Readinger.
The CornerStone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award, $50, went to Meme DeSantis who
started 30th and finished 7th improving 23 positions in the Modified feature
race.
The current leader in the chase for the $1,000 Heat Winners Big Bucks D&S
Archery/Rossi Welding Award, going to the Modified racer able to win the most
NASCAR qualifying heat races during the season, is Jon Kellner Jr. who has won
five qualifying heats. Interesting to note that his father, Jon Sr., won the Big
Bucks last season..
In the 25-lap feature for the United Racing Club sprint cars Allentown based
Seidel was able to take the Valley Forge Inc./GEI Enterprises No. 5G to the
front of the 24-car starting field at the drop of the green. On his way to his
second win of the season and twenty-first career URC victory he was able to hold
off strong challenges from defending champion Curt Michael. The impressive field
of sprinters was able to close up on Seidel on each caution but when the green
was waved by starter Ray Kemp, Seidel was able to pull away.
Michael (Oceanview, Delaware) made several attempts at challenging the leader
but it was to no avail and the defending URC champ had to settle for second.
Greg Coverdale (Milford, DE), back in action this season after being away from
the sport for a while, made some attention getting moves in the final laps to
grab third. Former Grandview Late Model champion Ed Aikin (Lincoln University,
PA) ran a consistent race to finish fourth followed by Wilmington, Delawares
Chris Coyle.
During the course of the nights events for sprints and modifieds there were a
number of flips and bone jarring accidents but fortunately no one suffered any
serious injuries.
In the 20-lapper for the 600 Modifieds, making their first of two scheduled
appearances at Grandview, Mike Keppler of Boyertown to the lead on the first lap
and was able to keep control throughout all the laps to gain the victory. Second
spot went to Chad Behler who was mounting a challenge at the finish with Tom
Martocci, a former winner at Grandview, grabbing third.
Qualifying heats for the Advance Auto Parts URC sprint cars were won by Seidel,
Brooke Bowman (who was impressive in the feature race until a late race battle
with the first turn wall put him out of action) and Chris Coyle. Brook Weibley
came home first in the B Main. CnB Mushrooms posted $50 for each sprint car
quality event winner.
Wins in the qualifying events for the NASCAR Modifieds were earned by Colt
Harris, Chris Esposito, Jon Kellner, Barry Readinger, Jeff Strunk and Todd
Smith. The consolation races had Brad Missimer, Ray Swinehart and John Willman
as the winners.
In qualifying for the 600 Modified feature Mike Keppler and Brian Mady won eight
lap heat races.
Racing at Grandview Speedway on June 17th will feature Norris Mechanical
Contractors Night with the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models in action with a
7:30 p.m. start.
