Fred Brownfield Memorial 6/26
The memorial was yesterday, without a doubt
the worst month ever in my racing career.
Two weeks after the tragedy and people in these parts are still walking around
in shock.
Fred raced sprinters for 20 years and walked away intact. He wasn't supposed to
go out like this, or so we thought.
The memorial service was done at Grays Harbor Raceway and the luncheon
afterwards was paid for by Grays Harbor County.
I particularly like the #92 painted on the catch fence. I can't touch the top of
that fence so those #s got to be 4 or 5 feet high.
92 was Fred's Car # in his driving days.
It was an honor to be his flagman, even if it was for less than 2 full seasons.
I'm really gonna miss that little guy.
ps. We go green again on Saturday.
Fred would be furious if we didn't.
