10th ANNUAL CSONLINE APPLEFEST 100 ENDS 2006 SEASON AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY ON SEPTEMBER 17

FRANKLIN, PA .. Continuing a tradition that now spans a decade, the 2006 racing season comes to an end at Tri-City Speedway on Sunday, September 17th with the 10th Annual CSOnline Applefest 100.
Considered the best race each season at the half-mile Venango County oval, the CSOnline Applefest 100 is also the biggest event of the year for the E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks at $1,500-to-win and $125-to-start. In addition, lap sponsors and other awards raise the purse and prize money in excess of $13,000 making the race one of the richest Pro Stock events in the region.
Past winners of the event read like a who's who of Pro Stock racing. The 2006 track champion Bobby Whitling is the only multi-time winner of the race with three victories in 2000, 2001 and 2003. Other winners include Rick Prosser Jr. (1997), Gary Norman (1998), Matt Lux (1999), Darrell Bossard (2002), Dave Ferringer (2004) and Jason Reagle (2005).
Run three weeks before the annual Applefest Celebration in Franklin, the CSOnline Applefest 100 will also determine the champion of Tri-City's four-race William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series, which is a track-based series. Heading into the event, Whitling leads the series points followed by 2005 track champion Gerry Bruce, Mike Pegher Jr., Doug Iorio II, and Ferringer. All five drivers are in contention for the title.
For the sixth year in a row, CSOnline will sponsor the Applefest 100. The top internet service provider in Clarion and Venango Counties, CSOnline offers various computer and internet services for commercial and residential customers throughout the Tri-City area. CSOnline, which is located in Seneca, Pa., sponsors Tri-City's Autograph Alley, which is located outside of turn four and gives fans of all ages the chance to obtain autographs from the weekly feature winners. CSOnline also hosts Tri-City's website, www.tricityspeedway.com.
This year, various sponsors will once again offer additional awards for the leader of each circuit of the 100-lap affair. A total of $1,490 in lap money will be paid out with the leader of each lap to receive a cash award of at least $10. The leader of the 50th lap will receive $100 courtesy of William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning of Franklin, Pa. Gil Dahlstrom, who sponsors Iorio's car, also posted two (2) $100 laps, 28 and 48. Jim's Super Market of Cooperstown, Pa., offers $50 for the first and 100th laps. Eagle Hoist & Winch of Titsuville, Pa., returns with the 17/17 Prize, which will pay $50 to the 17th place car on the 50th lap, and $100 to the 17th place car on the 100th lap. Operated by Ken Humanic, who owns the car driven by his son, Jackson Humanic, and former track champion Gerry Bruce, Eagle Hoist & Winch also joined other sponsors for a total of nine $25 laps.
There are additional prizes available too. The driver that advances the most positions in the race from his original starting spot will receive the Hard Charger of the Race Award worth $100 courtesy of Donovan & Bauer Auto Group of Titusville, Pa. Atkinson Fire Safety Equipment of Rimersburg, Pa., returns with a $100 prize for the 2006 Rookie of the Race Award. The annual heat race winners dash offers a $300 purse posted by division sponsor, E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating of Oil City, Pa. That event determines the polesitter and starting lineup for the big race. Finally, Seigworth Road Supply of Knox, Pa., is offering $50 for the Best Appearing Car and Crew Award.
In an effort to boost the opportunity for all competitors to earn money, any of the drivers that do not qualify for the main event will be eligible to race in the 20-lap Edward Jones Investments/Kirtland Cancer Foundation Non-Qualifiers B Feature, which was added to the program in 2004. That event pays $500-to-win and $65-to-start. All non-qualified drivers must start that race to earn purse money. Otherwise, $50 tow money is available.
In addition to the Pro Stocks, for the third year in a row, the Klapec Auto Body Thundercars will compete in the Apple Core 20. Robby Torrens (2003), Jeff Manners (2004) and Craig Koteles (2005) are the past winners of that race.
The Lowry Auto Wrecking Applefest Full-Size Car Demolition Derby will round out the show.
Gates to the track open for this event at 2 p.m. and racing starts at 4 p.m. Adult grandstand admission for the twilight event will remain a family friendly $11. In the event of rain, track officials will review the schedule for an appropriate raindate.

TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY RAINED OUT -- BOB FELMLEE, KEVIN BOLLAND, BRENT RHEBERGEN, BOBBY WHITLING AND JEFF MANNERS ARE 2006 CHAMPIONS

FRANKLIN, PA ... Heavy rains that started early in the morning continued unabated through mid-morning and inundated Tri-City Speedway on Sunday causing the fifth rainout of 2006. As a result, the final five-star show of the season was cancelled. This was to have been the last appearance of the season for the Super Sprints and DIRT Modifieds. The event will not be rescheduled.
With the rainout, the 2006 track champions were decided and include Bob Felmlee (4 Your Car Connection Super Sprints), Kevin Bolland (Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds), Brent Rhebergen (RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods), Bobby Whitling (E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks), and Jeff Manners (Klapec Auto Body Thundercars).
Bob Felmlee of Franklin, Pa., clinched his third track championship last week. Felmlee also was the title in 1996 and 1998. The rainout temporarily delayed Felmlee's four-race win streak at Tri-City until the beginning of the 2007 season. Todd Bauer finished second in the point chase for his best season run ever at Tri-City. Brent Covell, Rod George and Gale Ruth Jr. rounded out the top five in the Super Sprint standings.
Kevin Bolland of New Brighton, Pa., capped a stellar season with his second career Tri-City DIRT Modified championship. Bolland, who also won the track title in 2000, completed a season sweep in the DIRT Modified division with championships at Lernerville Speedway and the Schwab's Ford Big Block Modified Challenge Series, which was an eight-race series between Lernerville and Tri-City. Rex King finished second in the Tri-City standings to Bolland followed by Jeremiah Shingledecker, Joe Crawford and Chris Schiffer.
For the third time in his career, Brent Rhebergen of Clymer, N.Y., won the E Mod track title at Tri-City. The all-time E Mod feature winner was also the champion in 2002 and 2003. Rhebergen topped his teammate Shawn Shingledecker for the 2006 title. Jim Frontz, David Atkinson and Matt Lux rounded out the top five in E Mod points. The Fame RV Center E Series championship will be determined during the Oil Region Labor Day Classic Weekend.
After a dismal 2005 season, Bobby Whitling of Seneca, Pa., rebounded for his third career track championship in the Pro Stock division at Tri-City. Whitling, who plans on racing in the both the E Mods and Pro Stocks in 2007, also won the track title in 1998 and 2002. Doug Iorio II finished second to Whitling in the title chase followed by Dave Ferringer, Scott Myers and Jason Engles. The William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series championship will be determined after two events on Sept. 3rd and 17th. The last race is the 10th Annual CSOnline Applefest 100.
Jeff Manners of Cherrytree, Pa., completed a stellar season with his second career track championship. Manners, who captured the first Thundercar title at Tri-City in 2003, defeated rival Josh Seippel. Rookie Bill Myers, Curt Bish Sr. and Charlie McMillen rounded out the top five in the Thundercar point standings. The Thundercars will return to Tri-City on Sept. 17th for the Apple Core 20, which will be run in conjunction with the CSOnline Applefest 100 for the Pro Stocks.

Tri-City Speedway will return to action this coming weekend with the biggest event of the season, the Oil Region Labor Day Classic Weekend on Saturday and Sunday September 2nd and 3rd. The event features two days of competition for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. With over $100,000 in advertised purse money available, the World of Outlaws Late Models will compete in a 50-lap event paying $10,000-to-win each night. The Fame RV Center E Series for the E Mods will be in action each night. On Saturday, the 20-lap E Series race will pay $725-to-win. On Sunday, the E Series All Star 30 pays $750-to-win. The potential winner's purse exceeds $2,000 with bonuses and lap money collected by division sponsors, RPM Auto Sales and Shawgo Real Estate. The Pro Stocks will complete each show. Both nights, the Pro Stocks will compete in 20-lap, $500-to-win events. Sunday's race will be the third event of the season on the William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series as the teams and drivers prep for the 10th Annual CSOnline Applefest 100. WORLD OF OUTLAWS LATE MODEL SERIES RETURNS TO TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY FOR HUGE LABOR DAY WEEKEND SHOW WITH E MODS AND PRO STOCKS

FRANKLIN, PA .. After a successful debut in 2005, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will return to Tri-City Speedway for the two-day Oil Region Labor Day Classic Weekend on Saturday and Sunday September 2nd and 3rd.
Sponsored by AlturnaMATS and Gierlach Crushing and Contracting, the two-day event will offer a complete show of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series each night culminating with a 50-lap event paying $10,000-to-win.
With an advertised purse that exceeds $100,000 for both days combined, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series features the best Late Model drivers in the business, including contracted stars Chub Frank, Tim McCreadie, Steve Francis, John Blankenship, Clint Smith, Darrell Lanigan, Billy Moyer, Dale McDowell, Eric Jacobsen, Josh Richards, Shane Clanton and last year's race winner Rick Eckert. Joining them will be a number of local hotshoes such as Dick Barton, Matt Lux, Lynn Geisler, John Flinner, David Scott, Brent Rhebergen, Darrell Bossard, Todd Andrews, Chad Ruhlman and 1997 track champion Robbie Blair.
To top it off, the Speed Channel television crew will tape the Saturday show for broadcast at a later date. In addition, for the second consecutive year, Dave Despain's Wind Tunnel television show will feature a live shoot for Speed Channel viewers from Tri-City Speedway on Sunday night with Eckert.
"The race teams and fans had a blast at this event in 2005," said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham. "These will once again be the only Late Model races of the season at our facility. Last season, we had an excellent Labor Day weekend of racing, but the Late Models were only there for one night. We decided to expand the show this season, and we hope that everyone comes out to support the World of Outlaws Late Model Series."
Graham's Co-Promoter Roger Crick added, "We're looking forward to this opportunity to see how our fans respond to the third major division in Western Pennsylvania as we continue to analyze our options for our weekly shows in 2007."
The Late Models will invade Tri-City in full force on Saturday and Sunday night. Time trials and qualifying events will set the 24-car field for the 50-lap feature event each night. The winner of the each race will earn $10,000 with $700-to-start.
In addition, the RPM Auto Sales E Mods and E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks will be in action each night. On Saturday and Sunday, the E Mods will compete in the final Fame RV Center E Series events of the season. The first E Series race was run on June 18th and two-time track champion Brent Rhebergen captured the win. After a rainout on July 2nd, the second event was held on August 20th. Due to the weather and packed race schedule, track officials elected to run the E Series on both nights of the Oil Region Labor Day Classic.
Each night, the E Mods will run a complete series of qualifying events followed by a feature race. Saturday's event will be a 20-lap affair paying $725-to-win and $100-to-start. Sunday's race will be the All Star 30 paying $750-to-win with additional bonuses that could net the race winner over $2,000. The race purse $150-to-start the All Star 30. Lap and bonus money is currently being collected for both events by Randy Lamb of RPM Auto Sales and Sherry Shawgo of Shawgo Real Estate, and a list of those prizes will be released in the near future. This will increase the amount of purse money for many starting positions throughout each event.
Rhebergen and defending track and E Series champion Matt Lux will lead a few drivers that intend to compete in both divisions. Others such as Alan Dellinger, Darrell Bossard, Carl McKinney, Dave Hess Jr., Robbie Blair and Chub Frank could possibly pull double duty each night. Other top contenders include Shawn Shingledecker, Jim Frontz, Dale Applebee, Mike Potosky, Mike Samuelson, and Jeff and Evan Taylor.
The Pro Stocks will also run a complete series of qualifying events followed by a 20-lap feature race on each night paying $500-to-win and $75-to-start. The Sunday event will be the third of four William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series races of the season. Both events will provide excellent preparation time for drivers and teams to ready for the 10th Annual CSOnline Applefest 100, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 17th.
Heading into this event, track championship contenders Bobby Whitling and Doug Iorio II each have one Detroit Iron Series win this season. Other top Pro Stock racers include Dave Ferringer, Scott and Chad Myers, Joe and Jeff Lockhart, Rod Laskey, Jason Engles, Matt Thomas, Rusty Kellogg, defending series champion Terry Wheeler, and Jackson Humanic, who shares his ride with defending track champion Gerry Bruce.
On Saturday night after the races, Engles Trucking and Ray's Racing Specialties have returned as sponsors of "South Ghetto," which features a huge bonfire and the live band "Intent," which entertained the crowd last year. This popular attraction is expected to draw even more fans this season, especially with free camping at the speedway.
The gates open each night at 3:00 p.m. No fans will be allowed to reserve seats with blankets until Saturday at that time. Racing starts each night with time trials at 6 p.m. Adult grandstand admission will be $30 each night or a two-day ticket costs $50. Pre-sale tickets are now available at Tri-City Speedway or the main office in Rimersburg. Pre-sale tickets are $2 off and provide immediate access to ticket holders in order to avoid long lines each night.

DIRT MODIFIEDS STAR IN KODIAK MEMORIAL AT TRI-CITY ON JULY 23RD

FRANKLIN, PA .. The Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds will rock Tri-City Speedway on Sunday July 23rd with the 14th Annual Kodiak Memorial as the track's traditional five-star racing show returns following the National Sprint Tour special on July 16th. Joining the DIRT Modifieds on the card will be the 4 Your Car Connection Super Sprints, RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods, E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks and Klapec Auto Body Thundercars as Tri-City commences its midsummer run to the track championships on Joy Employee Fund Night.
"Each year, we want to make our Kodiak Memorial the biggest DIRT Modified event of the season," said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham. "This season, it won't be any different."
The 2006 Kodiak Memorial will feature a 25-lap DIRT Modified main event paying $1,500-to-win that is also the sixth race on the Schwab's Ford Big Block Modified Challenge. The eight-race series of events is run in conjunction with Lernerville Speedway. Kevin Bolland currently leads the point standings for the series, which heads into the home stretch with additional events on July 28th at Lernerville and Aug. 6th at Tri-City.
Run in honor of former DIRT Modified car owner Bob "Kodiak" Graham, past winners of the Kodiak Memorial at Tri-City include the late Jeff Hoffman of Franklin, Pa., (1996, 1997, 1999, 2000), Ron Smoker of Hamburg, N.Y., (2001, 2003), Tommy Kristyak of Stoneboro, Pa. (1998), Kevin Bolland of New Brighton, Pa., (2002), Del Rougeux Jr. of Frenchville, Pa. (2004), and Andy Priest of New Castle, Pa. (2005). The first Kodiak Memorial events were held at Lernerville Speedway, and the winners included Bob Kraus of Erie, Pa., (1993), Scott Gurdak of Corry, Pa., (1994), and the late Dick Rankin of Fairmount City, Pa., (1995).

NATIONAL SPRINT TOUR READY TO RACE AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY ON JULY 16TH

FRANKLIN, PA .. Tri-City Speedway Co-Promoters Mike Graham and Roger Crick are ready to showcase the biggest sprint car race in track history as the National Sprint Tour (NST) competes at the Venango County half-mile oval on Sunday July 16th in a $10,000-to-win event.
"We are still excited about this show," said Graham. "It is the only opportunity for race fans in our region to see the top NST drivers and teams this season. When [series founder] Fred Brownfield passed away recently, we were a little uncertain about NST's direction. However, despite those sad circumstances, Brownfield Promotions has picked up the pieces and moved forward with the 2006 schedule."
Led by 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser and his Steve Kinser Racing No. 11, NST includes some of the top drivers and team owners in national motorsports. Kinser's team includes two other drivers this season, Tim Kaeding and 2005 Knoxville Nationals champion Kraig Kinser. Both Steve Kinser and Kaeding are expected to compete at the Tri-City NST event. Other drivers and teams contracted with NST include former World of Outlaws champion and current NST point leader Danny Lasoski (Roth Motorsports No. 83), Paul McMahon (Tony Stewart Motorsports No. 20), Jason Meyers (Elite Racing Team No. 14), Brian Paulus (P&P Motorsports No. 28), Jason Sides (Sides Motorsports No. 7), Jason Solwold (Carnahan Motorsports No. R19), Shane Stewart (Rudeen Racing No. 26), Kerry Madsen (Selma Shell Racing No. 11H), and Dean Jacobs (Parsons Motorsports No. 6). Jacobs recently replaced Western Pennsylvania favorite Tim Shaffer, who suffered a broken vertebrae in a recent accident.
Those drivers and teams will be joined by others from throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio, including Tri-City's own stars such as three-time and defending track champion Rod George, Bob Felmlee, Ed Lynch Jr., Andy McKisson, Jarod Larson, Todd Bauer, Andy Priest, Jason Jacoby, Jody Keegan, Rob Eyler and John Schuyler.
"This is the first time ever that sprint car champions like Steve Kinser and Danny Lasoski have raced at Tri-City," noted Graham. "Our fans have asked for an event of this caliber for years. They want to see their local heroes race with the best in the country on the fastest sprint car track in Western Pennsylvania. We believe this event will offer our fans that opportunity at a reasonable admission price."
In addition to the NST event, the William R. Karns Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Detroit Iron Pro Stock Series will be in action for a 20-lap event featuring the E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks.
Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Adult grandstand admission for ages 16 and over will be $25. Student grandstand admission for ages 13 to 15 will be $15. Children 12 and under will still receive free grandstand admission.
To top it off, the National Sprint Tour event will conclude a huge weekend at Tri-City as Clear Channel Entertainment's USHRA Monster Jam will be the featured attraction on Friday July 14th and Saturday July 15th.

HEAVY RAINS AND THUNDERSTORMS CANCEL TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY ACTION

FRANKLIN, PA ... Heavy rain and thunderstorms invaded Tri-City Speedway in the early afternoon, and washed out the Sunday night racing action for the fourth time this season.
"We wanted to get this show in," said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham. "We held out for a while as it stormed, then the track suffered a severe lightning strike that hit our telephone system and caused some other problems. At that time, in combination with the heavy rain that inundated the track, we were forced to cancel the show. We're extremely disappointed. Mother Nature has been a problem for many tracks this season, including Tri-City."
As a result of the rainout, Tri-City Speedway will shift its entire Independence Day celebration to next Sunday night, including the Giant Eagle/Edward Jones Fireworks Extravaganza and Clarion RRR Roadhouse Restaurant Road Cruise III.
The rainout resulted in the second cancellation of the season opener for the Fame RV Center E Series. The initial event will now happen next Sunday. Track officials will review the schedule in order to establish a new date for the July 2nd E Series event.
Those families with race tickets that children received at school for any 2006 shows that have rained out this season may now use those tickets for the July 9th and July 23rd shows only.
Next week's Jim's Super Market Super Fan of the Week award is still worth $500 to be divided between a lucky race fan and the winner of the Schwab's Ford DIRT Modified feature.

LADIES E MOD CHARITY RACE TO RUN AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY JUNE 18TH

FRANKLIN, PA .. For the fifth season in a row, Tri-City Speedway will host the a special charity event, but this time the RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods take center stage with the Victim's Resource Center Ladies E Mod Charity Race on Sunday June 18th, which will be run as part of a special five-division Father's Day show on Cranberry 10 Minute Oil Change Night at the Venango County half-mile oval.
Drivers like Megan Greenlee, Tammy Powell, Stacy Shingledecker, Nikki Hotchkiss, Cindi Stiffler, Heidi Thomas, Amanda Perry and Kristin Miller have committed to compete in the race, which was held in the Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds the first four years. Past winners of the event include Cheri Schiffer (2002), Greenlee (2003 and 2004) and Alexis Shingledecker (2005). This year, the race organizers are looking for more competitors in this first-time charity event for the E Mods.
"With this being the first time the E Mods will be used for this event, we hope that more female drivers will encourage their race teams to give them a shot behind the wheel," said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham.
Victim's Resource Center maintains offices in Franklin and Titusville, Pa. It provides for the needs of all people whose lives have been affected by domestic or sexual violence and to work towards creating a safer community.
"The Victim's Resource Center Ladies E Mod Charity Race is a very popular event for the drivers and fans alike," said Graham. "In 2005, the race teams raised over $7,600 for the Victim's Resource Center, and we hope they do even better this year with more sponsors and donors."
Although the RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods will have the night off for the charity event, the 4 Your Car Connection Super Sprints, Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds, E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks and Klapec Auto Body Thundercars will be in action. The DIRT Modifieds will run the second event of the season at Tri-City on the Schwab's Ford Big Block Modified Challenge Series. Russell King won the first series event, the Dick Rankin Memorial, on May 28th. The series is run in conjunction with Lernerville Speedway, where Rex King (May 5th) and Kevin Bolland (June 9th) also collected feature wins.
The night will close out with the season's first Lowry Auto Wrecking Compact Car Demo Derby.
Gates open on Sunday June 18th at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Adult grandstand admission is $11.

FAME RV CENTER E SERIES RACE RESCHEDULED TO JULY 9TH AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY

FRANKLIN, PA .. Following the rainout of the first Fame RV Center E Series event on Sunday June 4th, Tri-City Speedway officials have announced that the event was rescheduled for Sunday July 9th.
As a result, the four-race series for the RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods will now commence on Sunday July 2nd. After the second race the following week, the series will conclude with two more events on Sunday August 20th and Sunday September 3rd.
The Fame RV Center E Series is a homegrown series of events at Tri-City. Each race will be an extra distance event and will pay additional purse money throughout the field. Standard track points will be maintained for the series. In other words, points will be awarded for the heat races, consolations, feature events and feature race lap leaders. Show points will also be maintained. The points will be combined in order to determine the Fame RV Center E Series champion.
The early favorite for the Fame RV Center E Series title is defending track and series champion Matt Lux of Franklin, Pa. Other top contenders include two-time track champion Brent Rhebergen of Clymer, N.Y., Shawn Shingledecker of Franklin, Pa., Mike Potosky of Guys Mills, Pa., Jim Frontz of Cambridge Springs, Pa., Carl McKinney of Cranberry Township, Pa., Todd Roncaglione of Linesville, Pa., Jamie Shetler of Cochranton, Pa., Mike Samuelson of Conewango Valley, N.Y., and Bruce Powell of Cochranton, Pa.

TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY RAINED OUT FOR SECOND TIME IN 2006

FRANKLIN, PA ... Rainy weather conditions dominated most of the weekend and claimed another victim on Sunday night as Tri-City Speedway lost its second show of the season.
The event included the first race of the 2006 Fame RV Center E Series for the RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods. That race will be rescheduled for a later date to be announced by track officials.
The Powder Puff Pro Stock Race, which was rained out on May 14th and rescheduled for June 4th, will not be rescheduled due to lack of an available date this season.
Next week's Jim's Super Market Super Fan of the Week award is worth $400 to be divided between a lucky race fan and the winner of the Klapec Auto Body Thundercar feature.
Tri-City Speedway will return to action next Sunday June 11th with a five-star racing program that includes the 4 Your Car Connection Super Sprints, Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds, RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods, E.F. FRANKLIN, PA ... Despite cloudy, cool and windy conditions on Sunday night, Tri-City Speedway managed to defeat Mother Nature after days of rain in Western Pennsylvania as Bob Felmlee (4 Your Car Connection Super Sprints), Jeremiah Shingledecker (Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds), Brent Rhebergen (RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods), Doug Iorio II (E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks) and Bill Kluck Jr. (Klapec Auto Body Thundercars) captured feature wins at the Venango County half-mile oval. The weather conditions produced a tacky surface that produced incredible speeds and track records galore.
In the 20-lap Super Sprint main, Bob Felmlee of Franklin, Pa., drove around the outside of point leader Rod George on the fifth circuit and held off the three-time and defending track champion for his first win of the season in his World of Wheels Maxim No. 6. It was Felmlee's 22nd career win at Tri-City.
"I like the track a little rough, but it was a little too rough tonight," joked Felmlee, who excels on a tacky and fast track. "Chad (Reitz) made a great call tonight with a different shock and tire. He won this race for us. We have a Charlie Fisher engine under the hood, which always runs well on a track like this"
John Schuyler and Andy Priest led the field to the start of the race, but George used his fourth starting spot to vault to the front down the backstretch on the opening lap. Behind him, Felmlee used the outside cushion to race his way to the front. Following a restart on the fifth circuit, Felmlee drove from third to first and sailed away from the pack. George ran second while surprise visitor Greg Wilson moved into third. Wilson, who is the All Star Circuit of Champions point leader, was quick in his heat race, and was the talk of the night. However, a broken wing slowed his progress and caused him to pit under caution on the 14th circuit. Wilson was never a factor after that. For Felmlee, however, the final restart was a challenge as George snuck under him entering the third turn. Felmlee held him off and raced to a 3.036-second win over George. Rookie Danny Holtgraver turned in a stellar performance with a career best third ahead of Todd Bauer and Andy McKisson. Felmlee and Wilson won the Super Sprint heat races. On the fifth lap of the second heat race, Wilson set a new track record at 14.824 seconds, which translates into a 121.425 mph average on the soft clay surface. The lap shattered the old record set in 1998 by Jeff Shepard at 15.107 seconds.
Jeremiah Shingledecker of Polk, Pa., took the lead with three circuits left in the 21-lap DIRT Modified main, then raced home for his first win of the 2006 season. It was Shingledecker's fourth career win at Tri-City aboard his Carmate Trailers/Quaker Steak & Lube Bicknell No. 37MD. The win was tempered by a violent flip at the finish line by his brother, Travis. The younger Shingledecker was uninjured, but his older brother stood in victory lane watching the safety crews place his teammate's car on a tiltbed.
"I hope it isn't hurt too bad because it's my backup car," said Shingledecker. "Dean Pearson had a great run going and I have to congratulate him. He just got loose in the corner and I got under him. To finish first, you have to finish, and we had some troubles the first two weeks out this season. I'd also like to dedicate this win to my grandfather, Albert."
Pearson and Shingledecker started on the front row of the feature event, but Pearson was a man on a mission. He blasted into the lead while Shingledecker and Joe Crawford dueled for second. Those two changed lanes as they swapped second back and forth for several circuits. On the 10th circuit, Pearson almost lost the lead went he drifted high in turn two, but Crawford, who was running second at the time, could not make a pass stick. As the laps wound down, Pearson's car started to become loose. On the 18th circuit, Shingledecker dove under Pearson in turn two to take command. Crawford followed one lap later. Then, on the final circuit, Crawford tried to find a hole under Shingledecker in turn one. To avoid a collision, Crawford spun and collected Pearson and Andy Priest ending fantastic runs for all three men. The accident extended the race distance by one lap. Shingledecker held off the charge of Dave Murdick over those last two circuits to claim the win by 0.770 seconds at the line. Point leader Kevin Bolland finished third ahead of Dave Schrader and Skip Moore. At the tail end of the pack, Travis Shingledecker was pinched into the front wall after contact with Rex King Jr., which caused the younger Shingledecker to flip hard at the finish line. Pearson and Jeremiah Shingledecker won the DIRT Modified heats. On the final circuit of his heat race, Pearson set a new DIRT Modified track record at 18.525 seconds for an average speed of 97.166 mph. Shingledecker topped that in the feature race, however. While running second on the fifth circuit, Shingledecker lapped the track in 18.499 seconds or 97.303 mph to set the new standard. Of note, mechanical woes sidelined Rex King before the start of the feature, which allowed Bolland to open more ground in the point chase.
For the 42nd time in his career, Brent Rhebergen of Clymer, N.Y., won the E Mod feature at Tri-City. Returning to the track as a weekly competitor, Rhebergen took advantage of the misfortune of defending track champion Matt Lux to score his first win of the season aboard Shawn Shingledecker's Lucky Hills Golf Course/Madara Equipment Pierce No. 45S. It was Rhebergen's first win at the track since August 15, 2004.
"I'd like to thank the Shingledeckers for giving me this opportunity," said Rhebergen. "We've still got a few bugs to work out of this car. I didn't have anything to catch Lux. I don't know what happened to him. You hate to win one by lucking into it, but we'll take this one tonight."
David Atkinson and Evan Taylor led the field to the green flag in the 15-lap main event. Although Atkinson led the first circuit, three multi-car tangles on the frontstretch and in turn one marred the opening laps causing three cautions. Taylor led the second circuit, but Rhebergen took command on the third circuit. Behind him, Lux charged under Taylor on the sixth circuit to take second. He then started to close on Rhebergen. The two former track champions diced for the lead before Lux drove under Rhebergen in the second corner on the ninth circuit. Lux pulled away from Rhebergen and was clearly in command when his car suddenly slowed. On the 13th circuit, Rhebergen drove back under Lux off the second corner to reassume the lead. As Lux fell off the pace, Rhebergen cruised to the win by 3.171 seconds. Taylor and Andy Sweetland earned their career best finishes at Tri-City with second and third. Russ Dunn and Shawn Shingledecker recovered from their involvement in the early tangles to round out the top five. Lux finished eighth after nearly winning the race. Lux and Shingledecker captured the E Mod heat races.
After winning his first career feature at Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday night, Doug Iorio II of Kennerdell, Pa., led every circuit of the 15-lap Pro Stock feature at Tri-City to earn his second win of the weekend. It was Iorio's first win of the season at Tri-City aboard his Gil Dahlstrom Iron & Metal Pontiac No. 28.
"It's great to be back in victory lane at Tri-City," said Iorio. "We had a black cloud over us at Mercer, and we got rid of that last night. Now, we have our first two-win weekend. My mom and dad have done everything to put this deal together this season, and I need to thank them. I'd also like to thank the fans that came out tonight. It's amazing that more people don't come out on a night like this because, when it's cool and cloudy, the track is extra fast."
Iorio and Bobby Whitling started on the front row by the luck of the draw, and Iorio was dominant from the start. Racing the top line around the track, Iorio pulled away from Whitling every lap. Behind the lead duo, Scott Myers was trying to fend off point leader Dave Ferringer. Then, Ferringer slowed on the 11th circuit with a broken right rear wheel, which eliminated his chance at winning three features in a row. On the restart, Iorio was untouchable, however, Myers managed to squeeze under Whitling for second. At the finish, "The Kennerdell Kid" won by 1.053 seconds over Myers and Whitling. Rookie Bobby Sutley ran a stellar event to finish a career best fourth. Rod Laskey rounded out the top five. Iorio and Whitling won the Pro Stock heat races. Iorio broke the Pro Stock track record four times during his heat race setting the final mark on the seventh circuit at 21.612 seconds, which equates to 83.287 mph.
Competing in only his third event, Thundercar rookie Bill Kluck Jr. of Oil City, Pa., drove like a veteran to capture his first career feature win. Kluck battled with Curt Bish Sr. for several circuits before he used a daring outside-to-inside move in turns one and two to grab the lead and win the 12-lap feature in his Grandview Auto Body/Precision Tool & Die Chevrolet No. 27.
"This is my rookie season, and I can't believe I won on my third night out," said Kluck. "I'd like to thank Curt for racing me clean. I'm having a great time out here."
Jeff Manners took the lead at the start of the caution-free event. On the second circuit, however, Manners drifted wide in turn four, and Bish took command. Racing four-wide on the following circuit behind Bish, Kluck moved into second. Kluck gradually caught Bish, then they began a two-lap side-by-side duel for the lead. With Kluck racing the outside cushion, Bish occupied enough of the middle groove that it made Kluck work the topside next to the fence. On the eighth circuit, Kluck backed off entering turn one. Bish drifted wide to take Kluck's lane, and the rookie pulled a veteran move diving under Bish to take the lead with the crowd on its feet. Bish remained on Kluck's rear bumper the rest of the race, but Kluck would not be denied his first win. Bish settled for second followed by Bill Myers, Manners and Ed Deloe. Manners and Charlie McMillen won the Thundercar heats.
Tri-City Speedway returns to action with a Memorial Day Weekend show next Sunday May 28th as Rankin & Son Excavating presents the 3rd Annual Dick Rankin Memorial. The highlight of the night will be the first race of the Schwab's Ford Big Block Modified Challenge Series for the Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds. It will also be the lone appearance of the season for the BRP Modified Tour 2006 in the Dick Rankin Memorial 30 paying $1,400-to-win. TRI-CITY AND McDONALD'S TEAM TOGETHER IN FRANKLIN

FRANKLIN, PA . Sponsorship is the heart of auto racing. From the early years of motorsports to the modern day era of colorful race cars with drivers and teams in uniforms plastered with corporate logos, the key component is sponsorship money. Without it, auto racing would cease due to the cost to run the cars and tracks.
At the local level, on any given Sunday night at Tri-City Speedway, it is common to see race cars sporting the logos and names of various local companies. In victory lane, some drivers are able to list over a dozen sponsors.
The key to sponsorship, however, is to develop a marketing strategy that allows the race team or race track to work with the sponsor such that both benefit from mutual exposure.
This season, the most obvious example of an effective marketing strategy is the relationship between Tri-City and the local McDonald's Restaurants.
In 2005, the two tied the knot to start a coupon program with tickets sold at the track. The popularity of the program became clear recently when the Franklin restaurant commenced renovations with a focus on local auto racing. Under the watchful of Chuck Hallstein, who is vice president of M&J Management of Pittsburgh, which owns the McDonald's Restaurants in Cranberry, Franklin and Oil City, the racing-themed restaurant is becoming a popular stop in town.
"It's incredible," said Hallstein. "We've had a lot of compliments about our plans. People are looking in the windows and stopping by. We teamed with Tri-City to market each other and it's a match made in heaven. The buzz about our changes is amazing."
Hallstein recalls when his company decided to find a marketing partner in Venango County.
"Three years ago, we looked around and decided that we needed to hook up with another community asset to show our support for the local area. We heard about Tri-City and met with the owners. We all realized that this was going to be good for both of us."
Hallstein knew that racing was popular in the area. Even as he commenced talks with Tri-City, he envisioned that the Franklin store would be an excellent venue to promote the sport.
"McDonald's is always undergoing changes to modernize," said Hallstein. "We want to stay fresh and current. We want to provide a value to our customers and make them have a different experience. The racing theme became the heart of our renovation project."
Over the last couple of weeks, vast changes started to occur. A new service area was installed with a checkered flag front. New seating will be installed along with four flat screen televisions and WiFi internet service for customers. As a result, a new restaurant experience will enter Franklin as well as a reflection on the history and current stars of area motorsports.
"We intend to pay tribute to the historic drivers and legends from Tri-City with a wall of fame," said Hallstein. "We're going to put together pictures and collages of the all-time greats and bring back a lot of memories. Then, on the opposite wall, we'll focus on the modern day heroes of Tri-City."
For Hallstein, the project is one that is filled with excitement and fun.
"Venango County is an excellent area for our company," said Hallstein. "We love the people. We have a nice base of about 150 employees at all three restaurants combined. We a good management team made up of local people at each location, such as Jeff Rodgers and Bobbie Wolbert at the Franklin store. We are able to market our stores in a more relaxed and fun manner. In the local newspapers, The Derrick and The News-Herald, and with the area billboard companies, we can market ourselves in a much different way than the urban area surrounding Pittsburgh."
With all those benefits, it begs the question about the reasons M&J Management would invest in sponsorship and marketing with Tri-City.
"Tri-City is an asset to the community," said Hallstein. "Thousands of fans visit every summer. Every community needs more family events, and it's nice to take your family to Tri-City on a Sunday night and enjoy the races. It's also relatively inexpensive to do so. For us, the fans at Tri-City are our customers too."
With the marriage complete between the two companies, it was natural for the local restaurant to become perhaps the only one in the nation with a theme based on local auto racing.
"We wanted something unique that was not overwhelming with NASCAR and McDonald's race cars. Tri-City, its history, its drivers, and its fans provide that unique aspect."
The grand opening of the newly renovated Franklin McDonald's will occur on June 24th.

TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY SUFFERS FIRST RAINOUT OF 2006

FRANKLIN, PA ... Throughout most of the weekend, Tri-City Speedway officials watched the weather radar and forecast. By late Sunday morning, it became obvious that weather would impact the third show of the 2006 season, and Co-Promoters Mike Graham and Roger Crick decided to cancel the event. It is the first rainout of the year.
"The weather conditions have deteriorated throughout the morning and early afternoon," said Crick. "In addition, the weather forecast projects rain for this evening. Under these circumstances, we have elected to pull the plug on tonight's show. We wish all of our competitors and fans a Happy Mother's Day."
Those sentiments were echoed by Graham.
"We do not believe it is worthwhile for our race teams and fans to spend the time and money to travel to Tri-City today with the bleak weather conditions and forecast," said Graham.
Due to the rainout, the Powder Puff Pro Stock race will not be rescheduled.
Tri-City Speedway will return to action next Sunday May 21st with a five-star racing program that includes the 4 Your Car Connection Super Sprints, Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds, RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods, E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks and Klapec Auto Body Thundercars. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Adult grandstand admission will be a family friendly $11.

MALONEY TOOL & MOLD HARD CHARGER AWARD RETURNS TO TRI-CITY IN 2006

FRANKLIN, PA .. For the ninth season in a row, Tri-City Speedway will pit racer against racer with the Maloney Tool & Mold Hard Charger Award. The award honors the driver that passes the most cars in the feature events in all divisions during the regular season.
For this season, Maloney Tool & Mold has joined forces with Tri-City to sponsor the Hard Charger Award for the first time. As a result, this year's award will once again offer a $1,500 point fund to be divided between the top five drivers in the Hard Charger points at season's end.
"The fine folks of Maloney Tool & Mold have been involved in racing for years, and we're proud to add them to our advertisers in the 2006 season," said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham.
The Meadville, Pa., company is a builder of custom injection molds, specializing in the development and fabrication of close-tolerance precision molds and tooling. Founded in 1989, Maloney Tool & Mold employs a diverse team of skilled technicians, ready and able to meet the most demanding requirements of any customer.
Past Hard Charger Award winners include Pro Stock racers Dave Ferringer (1998, 2005), Bobby Whitling (1999) and Doug Iorio (2003), DIRT Modified drivers Lou Blaney (2000) and Del Rougeux Jr. (2001), Super Sprint ace Ed Lynch Jr. (2002), and Thundercar superstar Robby Switzer (2004).
Points for the Hard Charger Award are accumulated in each feature for the Super Sprints, DIRT Modifieds, E Mods, Pro Stocks and Thundercars. A driver earns one passing point for each position advanced in the final finishing order from that driver's official starting spot. For example, a driver that starts twelfth and wins the race earns eleven Hard Charger passing points. The passing points for all divisions are grouped as one set, which means drivers compete against their fellow competitors in all five classes of action.
Last year, Ferringer topped the Hard Charger points for the second time in his career and became the first driver to win the award twice. The Pro Stock fan favorite aced out Thundercar driver Curt Bish Jr. by just seven passing points with a "hard charge" to the point lead over the last few races of the season. E Mod driver Andy Sweetland used two fantastic early season performances to hold onto third. Thundercar champion Chad Myers and E Mod driver Josh Skarzenski rounded out the top five.

LERNERVILLE AND TRI-CITY SPEEDWAYS READY TO START BIG BLOCK MODIFIED CHALLENGE SERIES

FRANKLIN, PA ..Lernerville and Tri-City Speedways are set to begin the Big Block Modified Challenge Series for the DIRT Modified division with the first of eight races between the two Western Pennsylvania tracks slated for Friday May 5th at Lernerville.
"Gary (Risch Jr.), Roger (Crick) and I decided that our tracks would combine for a $2,000 point fund to award the top five drivers in the Big Block Modified Challenge Series at the end of the season," said Mike Graham, who co-promotes Tri-City with Crick. "We hope that these events spark renewed interest in the DIRT Modifieds throughout our region."
The series champion will receive $1,000 with the remainder of the point fund paid to second through fifth at the rate of $400, $300, $200, and $100 respectively.
The Big Block Challenge Series is sponsored by Schwab's Ford of Titusville, Pa., at Tri-City and by Precise Racing Products of Grove City, Pa., and Teo Pro Cars of Vernon, N.J., at Lernerville.
"All three of these sponsors have stepped forward to present a fantastic series of events in 2006 at Lernerville and Tri-City," added Graham. "We hope that these events spark renewed interest in the DIRT Modifieds throughout our region."
All eight races will offer larger purses with the winner's share ranging from $1,200 to $2,000. Each event will also be an extra distance affair up to 40 laps.
The first series event at Lernerville will be a 30-lap BRP Modified Tour race on Friday May 5th, which will be run in conjunction with the first appearance of the wingless USAC Sprints at the Sarver oval.

RACECEIVER MANDATORY AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY IN 2007

FRANKLIN, PA .Tri-City Speedway officials have announced that the track will mandate the use of the RACEceiver in four divisions at the Venango County half-mile oval starting in 2007. The one-way radio communication system features over 1,600 channels and will allow track officials to communicate directly with the drivers on the track.
The RACEceiver system will be required in the 4 Your Car Connection Super Sprints, Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds, RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods, and E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks in 2007. It will not be required equipment in the Klapec Auto Body Thundercars, however, the use of the RACEceiver system will be encouraged in the low-budget class. Use of the RACEceiver system is optional in 2006.
For Tri-City Speedway Co-Promoters Mike Graham and Roger Crick, the decision is one that continues to modernize racing for the safety of the drivers and track officials, and convenience of the fans.
"We decided to implement this rule in 2007 and announce it at this time in order for our race teams to acquire a RACEceiver system this season and use it on a trial basis," said Crick. "We view this as a safety feature and it will speed our racing program, especially on a large half-mile track like Tri-City. This is the 21st century, and we see it as an advancement in technology that has been needed for many years. The day of the official running out on the track to position cars is a thing of the past."
Not only will the RACEceiver system allow track officials to communicate with drivers about the running order under caution, it will also allow them to notify drivers about flat tires, mechanical problems, and yellow and red flag conditions.
Currently, the RACEceiver system is mandatory at Lernerville Speedway as well as other DIRT MotorSports tracks and events, including the World of Outlaws Sprint and Late Models Series and the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series.

JIM'S SUPER MARKET SUPER FAN GIVEAWAY ADDS EXCITEMENT IN THE STANDS FOR 2006

FRANKLIN, PA .While the drivers always shoot for top dollars by winning the feature races, Jim's Super Market of Cooperstown, Pa., hopes to make one fan richer each night at Tri-City Speedway.
Jim Dutko, owner of Jim's Super Market, is a long-time supporter of Tri-City and elected to start the Jim's Super Market Super Fan Giveaway, in which one lucky fan and winning racer may be able to win as much as $500 combined on a single race night.
"We're excited about this new sponsorship program," said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham. "Jim and his entire family are great sponsors at our track, and their Super Fan Giveaway will be an added bonus each race night at our facility."
During each race night, one fan will be selected at random draw from the adult ticket stubs or from the lucky number in the brand new DIRT Trackin' Magazine. That fan will then draw a number of a starting position in a pre-determined feature event. If that car wins the feature, then the fan will visit victory lane and split $100 with the winning racer. If no one wins, then the giveaway will increase by $100 each week up to a maximum of $500 until the giveaway is won. Then, it will start all over again. If no one claims the $500 giveaway throughout the season, then the money will revert to the driver's point fund.
"At the 2005 CSOnline Applefest 100, we tried the Jim's Super Market Super Fan Giveaway for the first time," recalled Graham. "A fan selected Bobby Whitling's starting spot, the pole position. Bobby was a three-time winner of that race, and Jim thought for sure he'd pay out some money that night. Bobby lost the race to Jason Reagle by inches. It was a great show for the fans."

POINT SYSTEM CHANGED AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY FOR 2006

FRANKLIN, PA .Drivers and teams will have more incentive to race hard for the lead position in all feature races at Tri-City Speedway in 2006 as track officials modified the point system for all divisions at the Venango County half-mile track.
In a move designed to add excitement to each title chase, each driver that leads at least one (1) lap in each feature event will earn five (5) bonus points toward the track championship.
"We looked at our point system during the offseason and decided to add a lap leader component," said Tri-City Public Relations Director Brian Spaid. "We wanted to encourage drivers to make every effort to race for the lead in the feature races. This will add a unique element to the competition and it could result in some interesting point chases at the end of the season."
Only five (5) points will be awarded to each driver that leads a lap in each feature race. No additional points will be awarded for leading the most laps.
Other than this change, no other modifications were made to the point system for races. Currently, each feature race winner earns sixty (60) points. A second place feature finish earns fifty-six (56) points followed by fifty-two (52) points for third. From there, each position decreases by two (2) points. In addition, heat race winners collect twenty (20) points. Starting with second place, each heat race finishing position then decreases by two (2) points.
Track officials also increased the registration or show points from 20 points to 40 points for each regular or special event.

GOSS GAS AND LINCOLN ELECTRIC SPONSOR THE 2006 LINCOLN WELDER IRONMAN AWARD AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY

FRANKLIN, PA .. R.N. Goss Gas of Reno, Pa., and Lincoln Electric will return for the second consecutive season to Tri-City Speedway with the 2006 Lincoln Welder Ironman Award. Introduced in 2005, the award honors consistency and success at the fast half-mile Venango County dirt track.
"Last year, the Lincoln Welder Ironman Award was a popular feature for our drivers and teams," said Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham. "The success of this promotion was evident at the end of the season when five different teams were eligible and the pressure mounted all the way through the last race."
Similar to the first award in 2005, the 2006 Lincoln Welder Ironman Award will honor the race team that completes the greatest percentage of laps in heat race and feature competition in all divisions combined. The winning driver and car owner will receive a new Lincoln Welder at the 2006 season banquet to be held in January, 2007.
Just like the Maloney Tool & Mold Hard Charger Award, the Lincoln Welder Ironman Award will make each race team compete with one another regardless of the division in which each team races. The number of laps run in the heats and features varies with each division, which is the reason that the award will honor the team that completes the greatest percentage of heat and feature race laps, rather than the greatest number of laps. In the event of a tie at the end of the season, the winner will be selected by a blind draw at the banquet.
"At the end of 2005, two DIRT Modified drivers, Rex King and Del Rougeux Jr., and one Super Sprint driver, Bob Felmlee, completed 100% of the heat and feature race laps in their respective divisions," noted Graham. "It call came down to the blind draw at the season banquet. It was an incredible program."
In addition to the free welder to the honored driver and car owner, Lincoln Welder will supply a free welder for the use of track officials throughout the 2006 season.

As the area weather continues to warm with the onset of springtime in Western Pennsylvania, race teams and fans are getting geared up for opening night at Tri-City Speedway on Sunday April 30th with a full slate of the 4 Your Car Connection Super Sprints, Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds, RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods, E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks and Klapec Auto Body Thundercars. Gates open each Sunday night at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Adult grandstand admission is $11 for each five-star racing show.
"It's hard to believe that we're starting our second decade at Tri-City," said Co-Promoter Mike Graham. "It's gone by so fast. We're really looking forward to this season. To start, we're excited about the changes we made to turns one and two in order to widen the track and increase the banking. We believe this will make for even better and faster racing."
Rod George of Kittanning, Pa., will return to Tri-City as the Super Sprint champion for three of the last four years. George will face stiff competition from two-time champion Bob Felmlee. The popular area favorite is expected to challenge for his first title since 1998. In fact, heading into this weekend, Felmlee already has two wins and a second place finish at Mercer Raceway Park. Other top contenders include Andy McKisson, Todd Bauer, Jason Jacoby and Rob Eyler.
In the DIRT Modified ranks, Del Rougeux Jr. of Frenchville, Pa., will be back to defend his track title. Rougeux, who also won the title in 2003, ran a flawless season, but the first few races this season for the popular racer have been tough with crashes at Lernerville Speedway and Sharon Speedway. Rougeux always bounces back, however. His stiffest competition will be Rex King, who has finished second in points the last two years. Other title chasers include Jeremiah Shingledecker, Andy Priest, Kevin Bolland, Russell King, Dave Schrader and Joe Crawford.
Matt Lux of Franklin, Pa., scored his first career E Mod track title at Tri-City in 2005. Teamed with car owner Scott Bidwell, Lux scored eight wins last season at the Venango County half-mile oval and was the class of the field. Bidwell and Lux will be back with their potent combination, but a few technical changes in the E Mod rules have opened the gates for even more competition. This includes Shawn Shingledecker, Mike Potosky, Josh Skarzenski, Jim Frontz, Kari Gasser and Dale Applebee.
For the third year in a row, the Pro Stock champion will not defend his title as Gerry Bruce of Franklin, Pa., focuses on his efforts in the USAR Hooters Cup Series. Bruce Smith (2004) and Darrell Bossard (2003) also did not return following their championship seasons. With Bruce out of competition and Jason Johns moving into the E Mods, other top stars like Doug Iorio II, Bobby Whitling, Dave Ferringer, Rod Laskey, Scott Myers and Rusty Kellogg are now in a prime position to walk away with the 2006 championship.
Like Bruce, Chad Myers of Oil City, Pa., will not be back to defend his Thundercars championship as the second generation racer moves on to the Pro Stocks. Instead, all eyes will focus on divers like Ed and Regina Deloe, Josh Seippel, Curt Bish Sr. and Jeff Manners. There are also a slew of new teams entering the Thundercar ranks in 2006.

Tri-City Speedway is owned and operated by Roger and Susie Crick and Mike and Margaret Graham. They have promoted Sunday night racing at the popular facility since they reopened it in 1996. The Super Sprints, DIRT Modifieds, E Mods, Pro Stocks and Thundercars race each week at the Venango County half-mile dirt oval. Tri-City is located seven miles north of Franklin, Pa., off State Route 417.
