Valley Puts Cap On '06 Season
Yetman Battles to Repeat Title; Keough and Wiegand Crowned Champs

Saturday September 16, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

West Lebanon, NY: With clear skies and no storms in the forecast, the
Valley of Speed put the last program on the schedule on the speedway to wrap
up the final points in the Pro Stocks, Limited Pros Stock, and Pure Stock
divisions. Howard Commander's Lebanon Valley Speedway was in tip-top shape
for a night of full fender battles, along with a special Funplex Funpark
Sportsman 30 lap Shootout.

After dominating earlier in the 2006 season, Rob Yetman's #7 seems to
struggle to get to the top 5 in the last few events. This opened the door
for the rest of the field to reel Yetman back in for the overall points
title in the Pro Stock division. After last week's solid top five, Yetman
came into the night with just a scant 38 point lead over veteran Paul
LaRochelle.

As the 30 lap Pro Stock finale got under way, as Ed Bachand took his #165 to
the point. Bachand stayed out front after several cautions slowed the
field. The first caution came on lap 4, then just 3 laps later on lap 7.
Both of which caused Yetman to go pitside to change flat tires on the Beer
Belly Bob's #7, relegating him to starting 'clean-up' on the field. On the
ensuing restart, Bachand began getting pressure from Jay Corbin's #8.
Corbin finally made the pass by lap 9, and began to pull away from the rest
of the field.

LaRochelle was wading within the top 10 all race, but just couldn't get a
good grip on the high banks to make a charge to the front get the most out
of Yetman's misfortunes. But there was no one going to catch the #8 as
Corbin charged to a near ¾ straightaway lead to take the 30 lap Pro Stock
Feature event. With LaRochelle mustering just a 5th place finish, and
Yetman crossing the line 10th, it was not enough as the defending champ, Rob
Yetman takes the 2006 Pro Stock Championship.

The Limited Pro Stocks also crowned their champ at the Valley of Speed.
This time, after a bizarre lap 3 pileup in the 2nd turn taking out nearly
half the field; including the #2 in points, George Miles, and damaging most
everyone else except for the #311 of Brian Keough. Keough assumed the lead
by lap 4, but was later pressured by the #17 of Nick Hilt. Hilt took over
the top spot by lap 12, and went on the win the 15 lap Limited Pros Stock
feature, but Keough cruised home in second, securing the 2006 Limited Pro
Stock Championship by over 26 points.

The Pure Stock Division also took to the high banks to finalize their
point's title. The 53 cars in attendance were divided up into 4 races, with
the top 14 in points battling it out among themselves in their own race.
The results are as follows: PS#1 - Jeff Douglass, PS#2 - Jay Kreutziger
Jr., PS#3 - Matt Humes, and PS#4 - Jesse Murphy. The full results for each
are listed below in the 'Results' section.

Not only did these finishes set the stage for the Boomer's Performance 15
lap Pure Stock Classic, but it also determined the point champ. And by
virtue of nearly a full dozen wins this year, the veteran racer Pete
Wiegand, pilot of his familiar red and black #78, captured the 2006 Pure
Stock Point Championship.

With the titles handed out, and the regular racing season coming to an end,
it was time for a couple of dash for cash races for the Sportsman class and
Pure Stocks. The Funplex Funpark 30 lap Sportsman $1000.00 to win
Shoot-Out.

Alan Houghtaling and Frankie Harper took the field to the green, but it
wasn't long before the legendary Art Collins showed he was ready to take
home the big dough. The Alligator began his charge from the 5th starting
spot, but it was his own back-up car, the #25 of Frankie Harper that gave
him the most trouble. Harper held the lead till lap #8, but the #25 drifted
up in turn 1, at the door opened for the #68. Collins took the point, and
never looked back, as the Alligator Art Collins wins the Funplex Funpark
Sportsman Classic.

Also on tap was the season finale for the Pure Stocks as Boomer's
Performance put up a $300.00 payday for the full fender class, as Lynne
Wesley and Joe Walcott took the field to the green for their 15 lap
shoot-out. A few caution bunched the field, but that wasn't going to deny
the 'Rocket man', Al Relyea, as he charged from his 18th starting spot to
score the Boomer's Performance Pure Stock dash.

With all the racing coming to a close at the high banks for 2006, Lebanon
Valley Speedway, along with the management and staff would like to thank all
the teams, drivers, sponsors, employees, and most importantly, the fans for
a fantastic 2006 season of racing and the Valley of Speed, Lebanon Valley
Speedway!

And not to forget about the last event to be held this year, the 24th Annual
Swap Meet, scheduled for Sunday November 5th, rain or shine!

SKIDMARKS
2006 Tour 12: For the second straight year DIRT MotorSportsT has signed up
the best big-block Modified teams in the Northeast to compete in every
Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series show. The list of a dozen contracted
drivers (in alphabetical order) includes popular Pennsylvania pilot Frank
Cozze, four-time and defending Eckerd 200 titlist Billy Decker, reigning
overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRT champion Tim Fuller,
all-time Advance Auto Parts SDS race winner Brett Hearn, DIRT's winningest
big-block Modified driver Alan Johnson, five-time DIRT MotorSports NE Driver
of the Year Danny Johnson, Canandaigua (NY) Speedway record-setter Steve
Paine, second-year tour mainstay Jimmy Phelps, first-year full-time Series
follower Dale Planck, rising star Matt Sheppard, former Mr. DIRT champion
Gary Tomkins and 30-year open-wheel veteran Pat Ward.

Double Delays: DIRT 358-Modified practice began at 3:05pm and the rains
came. The third small-block heat hit the track and the rains came again at
6:30pm. The third try was a charm with the entire show resuming at 9 o'clock
and being completed in its entirety by 1:45 am. In between, a light shower
quickly turned into a major downpour with hail pelting down on the West
Lebanon facility.

Absentee Ballot Filled: Car count was down in the big-block ranks on
Saturday with at least a dozen Valley regulars failing to make the race day
roster that hovered around the 40 mark last September. Track staples like
second-generation chauffeurs Donnie Corellis and Eddie Marshall, along with
Dave Leckonby, Tim Dwyer and Denny Soltis headed the list. Also missing were
John Hewitt, Guy Sheldon, John Alberti, Don Ackner (manning a parts truck),
Matt Quinn (fielding only a small-block), Wayne Figler Lorne Browe and Kyle
Sheldon.

Bachetti Puts the Final Touches on First Big Block Crown, Including 358's
Watson Captures Sportsman Title

Saturday September 2, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

West Lebanon, NY: All across the state of New York, and western New
England, all outdoor activity came to a screeching halt due to hurricane, or
what was left of him, Ernesto, but not at the Valley of Speed. With the
speedway nestled among the surrounding Berkshire Mountains, the only weather
that affected the speedway was the wind. As the Valley faithful got a full
night of racing action that included double features for the Modifieds, and
final points night for the Mods, as well as the 358's, and Sportsman.

As the crowd settled in to the seats, then grab something to hold on to, as
the action picked up just as quickly as the winds did. The first Modified
30 lap feature event was presented by Waste Management took only one lap to
completely rearrange the point's championship battle. Ron Dwyer and John
Alberti brought the field to the green. As the field got to turn 3, that's
where the trouble began as the 45H of Don Mattison was struggling with
handling problems causing the field to get bunched up coming off turn 4. As
the faster cars caught the bunches pack, they went 3 and 4 wide down the
front stretch, and that was not going to work to get into turn one, as the
field began to pile up. When all was said and done, the red flag flew due
to the track being completely blocks with 12 cars involved, including points
leader Bachetti.

Also involved in the turn one incident was point contenders J.R. Heffner,
Kenny Tremont, Wayne Jelley, Eddie Marshall, in addition to Hector
Stratton, Steve Hough, Russ Reckner, Guy Sheldon, Paul Gilardi, Donnie
Ackner, Brian Berger, Wayne Figler and John Ruchel. Jelley was unable to
continue along with Figler, and Marshall. Everyone else returned to the
race, but suffering some damage was the #4 Albreada Waste of Bachetti, going
several laps down to the field.

Once the race restarted, Ron Dwyer charged to the front of the field, and
that's where he would remain for about 20 laps. That's when point
contender Donnie Corellis came a-calling; he wanted the top spot to put
pressure on Bachetti for the point title. On lap 22, is when it all
unfolded, as Corellis got a good run on the #88d, and was on his way by when
the #88d leaned on the #21 of Corellis trying to protect the lead. That in
turn caused hard contact between the two, sending Dwyer hard in the inside
jersey barrier. Corellis was then penalized for rough driving, and was
relegated to the rear of the field.

That handed the reigns over to the #1A of Tim Dwyer. And that is all he
needed, as the cruise control was set, and finally getting to the checkers.
Dwyer took his 1st of 2006; following Dwyer was Lorne Browe, Tremont, Mike
King, and John Hewitt.

The Modifieds then return later on in the night for the CARQUEST $3,000.00
to win presented by Gable Auto Stores and Pepsi-Cola. Luckily the filed
made in through without any major incidents, but there was certainly no lack
of drama. Keith Flach and Ronnie Dwyer, driving Matt Quinn's #20, brought
the field to the green. Back through the field, the battered cars of those
suffering damage in the first event looked like round two of a demo derby.
Bachetti's car was so damaged, like Dwyer's; he too had to go to a backup of
his own.

Corellis , too, suffered damage to his primary car in the heat races after
making hard contact with the outside wall in turn 3 after jumping the wheel
of John Alberti's #473. Corellis entered the 2nd feature driving his 358
#21. After several cautions for spinning cars, debris, and the occasional
wall contact, the field seemed pretty well intake, except for the drama that
unfolded around lap 26. The #4 backup of Andy Bachetti suddenly lost power,
and headed pit side handing an opportunity for the rest of the contenders to
take the point title. But it was just not the cards, as the checkers flew,
Hector Stratton powered to his first victory of '06, followed by the hard
charging J.R. Heffner. 3rd across the line was Marshall, Sheldon, and Wayne
Jelley.

But as a result of Bachetti's 18th place finish, and the Corellis' 12th
place finish, that handed the crown to the Albreada Waste #4 of Andy
Bachetti by just a mere 24 points.

With all that excitement, there was still enough time to finish up the point
chase in two more divisions. Next up was the Sportsman title chase, where
the #22 of Jeff Watson had a skimp lead going into the night's event. The
20 lap feature came to the green with Wayne Keyes and Earl Thitchener at the
helm. For the first few laps, the #92 of Thitchener held the top spot, only
to hand in over to a very hard charging #00 of Chris Kokosa, who was vying
for his bid to be point champ. Once the Kokosa Fuels #00 was out front, the
rest of the filed was racing for 2nd place.

Deep in the field, once again the point leader was struggling. Including a
trip down pit road, and a restart from the back of the field, the #22 of
Watson was just not going to be denied. He drove to a 9th place finish,
clinching the point's crown.

Kokosa took the checkers, followed by Don Miller, Chris Tryon, Ryan Larkin
and Danny Sanchez. But the spotlight was on the #22 of Watson with a 54
point win over K.C. Goewey.

The Benjamin Moore Paints 358 title was also up for grabs, this time, all
the contenders made it through the whole race without incident. At the drop
of the green, the #30 of Mark Pullen took the helm, but was to be short
lived, as the #171 of Tommy Faxon, charged to the top spot by lap 5. But
the 24 lap feature was about 10 laps too long for Faxon, as the #4 Four Star
TEO of Brett Hearn charged from his 20th starting spot, to take the lead,
and check out on the field. At the checkers, Hearn crossed the line first,
2nd was Faxon. Ray Hoard finished 3rd, followed by Matt Quinn and Kenny
Tremont.

By virtue of his 6th place finish, Bachetti and his Old Forge Powersports
#4 captures the 2006 Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series Point Title.

Also on tap was the Pro Stocks, as Mike Middleton took advantage of some
late race contact between the #96 of Rob Langevin, and the #165 of Ed
Bachand, taking his first win of 2006. Following Middleton was Jason Casey,
Paul LaRochelle, Chris Crews, and Kevin Arnold rounding out the top five.

The Limited Pro Stocks saw George miles return to victory lane followed by
Nick Hilt, Brian Keough, John Santolin, and Kevin Winters.

The Pure Stocks were also sprinkled in to the schedule of events. And the
winners were: PS# 1 Lou Ganczar, PS#2 Larry Ball, PS#3 Pete Wiegand, (his
10th for '06), and PS#4 Howard Madsen.

With the Three major point titles decided, that only means it's time for the
Coor's 200 Weekend, and the Race of Kings. Lebanon Valley Speedway is set
to open it's gates for this season ending extravaganza beginning Friday
September 8th with Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Limited Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks,

Final Point Night for Modifieds, 358's, and Sportsman Just Around the Corner
By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: Lebanon Valley Speedway is set to put on the final touches
to the points chase this coming Saturday night. With the added excitement
of Modified Double Features due to the rain out last week, this is set to be
a showdown in all divisions.

The top 5 in the Modifieds Points are less than 100 points from first to
fifth. The 358's have the top 4 within 100 points of each other. And the
Sportsman are following the trend with a mere 100 points difference from
first to fifth. See below for the points as of 08/26/2006 for a list of the
top 5 in each division and the point difference.

Gable Auto Stores and Pepsi Cola present the Carquest $3,000.00 to win
Modified Special plus Double Features. Also on tap is the Benjamin Moore

Leckonby Flies to Big Pay Day; Arnold Soars to the Checkers.
Double Features for Sportsman - Kyle Hoffman and Jeff Watson Take Victories!
Saturday August 26, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: Tons of racing fans filed into the famed Valley of Speed
Saturday Night, as County Concrete and Heavy Hauler put on a special program
titled Wingfest. All divisions took their normal rules and threw them out
the window, except for the Sportsman, and Pure Stocks, to put on an
'Extreme' race for some big money.

The rules were simply - anything goes. So teams brought their normal
Saturday Night Big Block Modifieds to the High Banks, only this time, they
were more like Dr. Jekyll, than Mr. Hyde. Picture a Northeast Dirt
Modified, then grow a huge wing or sail panel on the left side, some short
like a sprint car, some long like a giant billboard. Then throw in a 'no
engine rule' where anything goes, and you got a spectacle that only the
Valley could produce. Then add in a big, fat check for about $5,000.00; now
you gotta something to race for! Including a cool $1,000.00 to the first
"DIRT Legal" car to cross the line.

So the field was formed, and the 30 lap feature was just about under way as
Andy Bachetti waved the green on the first due to blowing an engine in the
heats earlier n the night. Ronnie Dwyer and Dave McFeeters led the field to
the green, the race was on. Dwyer took his familiar #88D un-changed, to the
top spot, and began to check out on the field. And he needs to, because the
'winged warriors' were beginning to get a feel for their transformed cars,
and they were coming to the front in a hurry.

Deep in the field, J.R. Heffner's 'altered' #74 began to charge through the
field. But just ahead of him was the "Mayor" Dave Leckonby piloting his
'altered' #4 who was driving like an ol' sprint car pro. Caution came out
by lap 11 for the #34R of Russ Reckner. Under caution, the #77F made
contact with another car due to an track racing incident; he was then black
fagged and sent to the pits for 'rough driving'. The field was then
gathered up, and they went back to green. Once again with Dwyer up front,
but he didn't get too far out front, as the #44 of Leckonby was on the
charge. He restarted in the 4th position, and within a lap, he was perched
in second place ready to make the move for the lead.

Without wasting a moment, the #44 leaped into the top spot, and took off. A
few positions back, was the #74 of Heffner, but he just couldn't get to the
front fast enough, and ran out of time. Leckonby parlayed his nearly half a
track lead into a $5,000.00 victory. Heffner's charge got him to 2nd place,
3rd was Dwyer, the first 'Dirt Legal', 4th was Wayne Jelley, and Eddie
Marshall rounded out the top 5.

Like that wasn't enough. The Sportsman division had double features due to
the rain out from last week. The first 20 lap feature, made up from last
week saw several cautions, and nearly half the field hooked up to a tow
truck at one point or another. This included a 1st lap crash on the front
stretch that involved nearly 8 cars, causing the #9H of Ed Harkins to flip
down the front stretch. He was OK, but the car was in tough shape, and he
was out of the first one. He did get a lot of time to get it fixed, and
made the 2nd feature.

After a brief red flag, the field was back under green. The action was hot,
but this one belonged to the #16 of Kyle Hoffman. He drove away with the
win; his first of '06, with the #25 of Frank Harper hot on his heals to
finish in second. 3rd across the line was the #22 Jeff Watson, Brian
Sandstedt finished 4th, and Chris Kokosa charged from the back of the pack
after the first caution to finish 5th.

The second 20 lap feature was shaping up to be a stunner, as the #09 of
Kevin Lynch led nearly 19 circuits, only to be passed with just one lap to
go. The SportsPage Bar and Grill #09 charged to the lead right at the drop
of the green, and he tried to put as much acreage between himself and the
#95 of Carmen Carnibucci sitting in 2nd. And that's the way the front
stayed for over half the race; but the #22 of Jeff Watson was on the move,
and he wanting to get to the top spot. Unfortunately there was no one that
was going to deny him of the win. Even with a caution on lap 18, putting
Watson on the back bumper of Lynch, just was delaying the inevitable. When
the field restarted, the #22 wasted no time, while Lynch tried to hold him
off valiantly, Watson was just too strong. Watson took the lead, and never
looked back. Watson takes the win, his 2nd of 2006; Carmon Carnibucci drove
his Toyota sponsored #95 to a hard fought 2nd place finish. 3rd acrossed
the line was the #9H of Ed Harkins, recovering nicely from the first feature
wreck. 4th was Lynch's #09, followed by the #87 of Neil Stratton.

Also on tap for night's activities was the Pro Stock division. They, too,
were taking part in the 'Wingfest' festivities, as the #76 of Kevin Arnold
was the first of the winged warriors to get to the front, and he pulled away
to take his 2nd win of the year. Jon Routhier finished 2nd, 3rd was Eric
Marin, 4th was Jim Langenback, and rounding out the top 5 was Ed Bachand's
#165 (the first Dirt Legal across the line).

The Limited pro Stockers put on an excellent race as the #1 of George Miles
pulled off another last lap on the last turn, pass to take the win, by just
inches. Dave Colwell came up a few inches short to finish 2nd, 3rd was Nick
Hilt, followed by the #311 of Brian Keough, and the #6 of John Santolin.

Nearly 50 Pure Stockers jammed into the Valley of Speed for some excellent
door to door action. This time, the Pure Stock winners were: PS#1 - Dave
Streibel, PS#2 - Mike Eichstedt, PS#3 - Pete Wiegand (his 9th of '06!), and
PS#4 - Dave Stickles.

Mark your calendars as its Final Points Night! Here already is the last
point night for the Modifieds, the 358's, and the Sportsman. The High Banks
will be just packed from corner to corner with all division in full action
to decide the 2006 Champs for the top 3 divisions. Gable Auto Stores and
Pepsi Cola are presenting a Carquest $3,000.00 to Win Modified Special, as
well as the Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series. Gates open at 5pm, and
racing set to begin at 6pm. Remember, this is also going to be Double
Features for the Modifieds as a make up from 2 weeks ago! There will be
action from beginning to end, so you are not gonna want to miss this one.

Don Carlson Takes $500 Pro Stock Win, Then Came the Rains
Saturday August 19th, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

West Lebanon, NY: Mother Nature put Howard Commander's Lebanon Valley
Speedway on the clock this past Saturday Night. With rains closing in on
the Valley of Speed, the JH Financial program went off a few minutes early
to try and get as much racing in safely before the rain spoiled the night.

And with very little time wasted in between feature and heat races, the
program went along up until the skies opened up. At that time, the
Modifieds were on the High Banks for their 30 lap feature event. All they
got in was about 5 parade laps to keep the track, but it was too late, the
rains came, and the night was done.

With only the Modifieds and Sportsman left on the docket, the race was
rescheduled as follows: Modifieds will have double features on Saturday
September 2, 2006. The Sportsman division will complete their double
features next week, Saturday August 26, 2006.

With all racing under the gun with wet weather looming, Don Carlson thought
that would be a great time to take home a victory. As the JH Financial
$500.00 to Win 20 lap feature event took the green with Carlson on the front
row. And by the time the field reached the backstretch, Carlson took the
top spot in hopes of taking away the big payday. Caution on lap 2 involving
the #7 of Rob Yetman, and the #44 of Steve Hankle, both were able to
continue. But the defending champ, Yetman struggled from that point on,
with a handling issue, then later with motor issues; causing the #7 to
retire early from the event.

But up front it was Carlson at the helm of the field. Robbie Speed's #24
powered into 2nd place behind Carlson, but that's as far as he would get.
Contact with the #76 of Kevin Arnold later in the race caused some body
damage, relegating Speed to a 3rd place finish. Arnold made his patented
late race charge; that was not going to be enough to get the job done; as
Don Carlson piloted his #26 to the victory. This was his first win of 2006.
Arnold crossed the line 2nd with Speed holding on for 3rd. Fourth
acrossed the line was the #8 of Jay Corbin, and then the #5 of Chris Crews
finished completing the top five.

The Limited Pro Stocks saw the #17 of Nick Hilt cross the line first for his
forth of 2006. Following Hilt was the #311 of Brian Keough, #6 of John
Santolin, the #12 of Dale Kennedy, and the #98 Justin Herron finishing out
the top 5. At Press Time, the results were still unofficial due to a post
race protest. The race will be made official by Monday morning.

The Pure Stock division also got all their racing in, as the big crowd on
hand got to see some excellent side by side racing action with the 4
separate 8 lap features. Pure Stock #1 saw the #67 of Dave Houser take the
win. Following Houser was Todd Pelkey, Lynn Wesley, Dan Olds, and Chris
Keller to round out the top 5.

Pure Stock #2 was captured by the #53 of Joe Chenail, followed by Mark
Stevens, Nick Regis, Gary VanDenberg, and Johnny Lane completing the top 5.

Pure Stock #3 completed their 8 lap feature with Matt Humes taking the
victory. Following Humes was Chrissy Hilt, Al Relyea, Tom Harkins, and Pete
Wiegand completing the top 5.

Pure Stock #4 had the hard charging #2 of Shannon McDermott take the
checkers. Following McDermott acrossed the line was Dave Steibel, Mike
Eichstedt, Paul Engwer, and Ed Hatch.

The 4 Cylinder event was also postpones to a yet to be determined later
date. All competitors will be notified when the event will be completed.

Mark on your calendar next weeks events as Wingfest returns to the Valley of
Speed! Saturday August 26th, County Concrete and Heavy hauler present the
Carquest $5000.00 to win Modified Wingfest. This exciting event attracts
everyone with a race car with the big payday. Plus your Modified drivers
change their cars to have a wing and sail panels, a couple of engine
modifications, and some extreme driving, making Wingfest 2006 a 'can't miss'
event.

Sheldon, Collins, and Blanchard Tame the High Banks for 1st of the Year
Saturday August 12, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

West Lebanon, NY: A warm sunny day, turned into a cool summer night, but the
action remained as hot as ever at the Valley of Speed. "Hollywood" Guy
Sheldon put all the pieces together to finally reach victory lane at the
High Bank. Art Collins used his veteran patience to finally see the
checkers, while Dave Blanchard battled door to door to climb into the top
spot.

Aladco and Triple Nickel presented the night's program of racing, and the
legendary Valley of Speed pack the stands with the local racing devoted, as
well as the 'little guys' as it was Kiddie Ride night. Over 40 cars lined
the front stretch at the Valley with each one stock full of young fans
holding on for dear-life, but smiling from ear to ear doing it! After the 2
lap parade around the speedway, it was time to go racing.

As the fans settled into the seats for a night of racing action; the first
on the grid was the Pure Stock Division. The action was tight, and abundant
with nearly 55 cars on tap. The winners of each of the 4 main events were:
PS#1 - Kirk Stanaway, PS#2 - Richard Puff, PS#3 - Pete Wiegand (8th of
2006), and PS#4 - Chip Martin.

The highlight of the night belonged to the Modifieds, as the field took to
the high banks for their 30 main event. On the front row it was the #88d of
Ron Dwyer, along side the "Valley Pole Sitter" Kyle Sheldon. At the drop of
the green, Sheldon led the filed into turn one, but that was all the #518
had, as the #88d of Dwyer stuck to the bottom, and powered into the top spot
going down the backstretch. Dwyer charged to the lead and set sail. But
the family Sheldon had other ideas. By lap 8, the #42 of Guy Sheldon got to
the back bumper of the #88d and began to pressure Dwyer.

The Devine Racing #42 of Sheldon finally maneuvered by to take over the top
spot by lap 12. With only two cautions slowing the field, nobody had much
of a chance to catch Sheldon. The usual Valley Bad Boys of Eddie Marshall,
Kenny Tremont, and Andy Bachetti made their way through the field to the
front, but it was much too little much too late, as Hollywood Guy Sheldon
takes his first win of '06. Marshall drove his #98 to place finish. 3rd
was Tremont's #115 followed by J.R. Heffner's #74 and tin Dwyer's #1A
rounded out the top five.

The Sportsman division, with one of the closest point's battle in years,
took to the Valley of Speed for their 20 lap feature event. Bob Bouchard
and Neil Stratton brought the field to the green, but by turn 2, Stratton
took over the top of the heap. The caution came out early on lap 2 as
contact between the #3 of last weeks winner, Kim LaVoy and the #122 of Wayne
Keyes ended up with LaVoy's left front wedged in the side nerf-bars of the
#122 of Keyes. After a short delay to separate the two cars, the filed went
back to green. Stratton continued to show his speed, but soon, a wily
veteran began to patiently make his presents known at the front. A lap 8
restart bunched the filed again, this time in single file, as that was all
the defending champion needed, as the Alligator Art Collins drove his
familiar #68 to the top spot, then drove off to another area code.

Nobody could muster a late race challenge to the 'ol veteran, as Collins
takes his first win of 2006. Following Collins was the #250 of Alan
Houghtaling with a strong runner-up finish. Stratton held on for 3rd,
followed by Ed Harkin, and a hard charging Chris Kokosa.

The Action didn't stop there, though. The Pro Stocks wanted to make it 3
for 3 with first time winners this week, and with defending champ Rob Yetman
starting deep in the field, there was a good chance for that to come to
fruition. Don Carlson and Lori Cary brought the field to the green for
their 20 lap feature event. Carey battled for the top spot, but Carlson
just had too much early in the event and took over the lead by lap 2.
Carlson held the lead, with the rest of field fighting door to door from 2nd
to 15th place. Finally something had to give, and it did around lap 8, as
several cars were involved including the #117B of Rob Langevin, the #165 of
Ed Bachand, the #38 of Mike Middleton, and Yetman's #7. All were able to
continue after several repairs to their damaged racers.

At the drop of the green, Carlson took charge again as the rest of the field
battled for position. With only 6 laps left on the lap counter, Carlson had
company in the form of the #15 of Dave Blanchard. Blanchard waited
patiently for the right moment, and by the next lap it came as the #26
drifted up high in turns 1 and 2. Blanchard took over, and never looked
back. Dave Blanchard crossed the line first, taking his first victory of
2006 followed by the #78 of Paul LaRochelle; Jay Casey's #322, Rick Dempsey
battled to take the forth spot, and Carlson held on to finish 5th.

The Limited Pro Stocks featured a complete field pile up on lap 3 in turn 1,
with most of the cars continuing, all with minor to medium damage. But it
was Nick Hilt taking his 4th win of '06 followed by Brian Keough, George
Miles, Frankie Twing and Justin Herron.

The Valley comes back this coming Saturday with a special $500.00 to win Pro
Stock Feature presented by JH Financial. All classes will be in attendance,
including the 4 Cylinders. Gates open at 5pm, racing starts at 6pm.

LaVoy Makes History at the High Banks; Bachetti and Tremont Dominate
Saturday August 6, 2006 - by: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: Mother Natural finally cooperated to allow for a full
night of racing action at the Valley of Speed. A capacity crowd witnessed
history as Kim LaVoy became the first Female "Open Wheel" Racer to take the
checkers at the Valley. Andy Bachetti continued his dominance in the
Benjamin Moore Paints 358's, and Tremont once again, kicked it up a notch,
to take his 3rd for 2006.

Saxton Signs and Taconic DSL ratcheted up the excitement at the Valley of
Speed, and that just what it was, a lot of speed. The corners were a little
slick, but the straights were fast; making for some very racy conditions.
And everyone took advantage as the night got cooler; the track just kept
getting faster, and faster. The Modifieds' scheduled 30 lap feature took to
the speedway with john Alberti's number 473, and the 518 of Kyle Sheldon on
the front row.

The racing was hot and heavy right from the start, as Guy Sheldon, aboard
his #42 Connecticut Express powered out the 6th starting spot to take over
the top spot by lap 2. The field was slowed on lap four for contact with
Lorne Browe's #14 and Eddie Marshall's #98 in turn 2, both were able to
continue. Then a few laps later, the 87X of Paul Gilardi lost control of
his ride is turn 1 running in the 6th position, causing evasive action by
the rest of the field. Several cars were left with no choice but to make
contact with each other. Ronnie Dwyer, Steve Hough, Gilardi, and Donnie
Corellis were unable to continue. By the time the filed got back to green
flag racing, Tremont had made his way through the field and was sitting in
the catbird seat, right on the rear deck of Sheldon.

A shoot out between the two was beginning to set up, but something in the
top end of the #42 went away as Sheldon slowed out of contention on lap 12.
That's all Tremont needed, as the S&S Asphalt, Fane Concrete #115 put on the
afterburners and set sail for the checkers. Rookie Mark Flach Jr. made an
impressive run from the 9th starting spot to finish 2nd in his #77F. Andy
Bachetti marched into the 3rd spot, while the #55 Thoma Tire PMC of Mike
King "survived" to finish 4th, losing a motor on the last lap. Tim Dwyer
hung on to finish 5th in his #1A, rounding out the top 5.

The huge crowd on hand also got to witness a history making event that just
took a little while to happen. The 20 lap Sportsman feature took to the
Valley of Speed with Derek Schibi and Kim LaVoy at the head of the class.
But the field wasn't getting much racing done, with two red flags before the
third lap, kept the field held back. The first red flew just after the
first lap, as several cars got together in the treturous turn 1, causing
several cars to create a 'parking lot' on the inside of the speedway. Most
were able to continue except for the #12 of Brian Sandstedt, who ended up on
his roof. As the field came to green again, the racing started getting
dicey up front. As the field exited turn 2, contact between the #39 of
Larkin and the #12Y of Schibi caused Larkin to turn in front of the field
cause a huge melee. Several more cars were gathered in this one as well,
but this time several would be unable to continue. Wayne Keyes, Chad
Pierce, Chris Tryon, weren't able to continue, whereas Larkin and several
others made it through without much damage.

Once the field settled down, they all realized that the #3 of LaVoy was out
front, and was checking out. The #68 of Art Collins made a bid to get to
LaVoy, but later spun with something breaking in the right rear. Then Chris
Kokosa made a charge from his 21st starting spot all the way to second, only
to loose his breaking entering the treturous turn 1, stuffing his Kokosa
Fuels #00 into the boiler plate. Frankie Harper then made a bid for the top
spot, but bobbled causing K.C. Goewey to move into the runner up spot.
Goewey challenged the #3 for several laps, but LaVoy was too strong. Kim
LaVoy drove to checkers as the crowd rose to their feet and cheered for a
well deserved win. LaVoy, the first female open Wheel racer to reach
victory lane in the one of the three top divisions at Lebanon Valley, took
the checkers followed by Goewey's #O2 Solutions, 3rd was Frankie Harper's
#25. Fourth across the line was the #80 of Kory Sandstedt, and fifth was
the #63 of Danny Sanchez.

The Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series was on the card for their 24 lap
feature event. The field took the green, with Kory Gurney taking the top
spot, and began to pull away. But the field came to a grinding halt as
contact between the #12B of Denny Young, #32Q of Quinn, and the #45J of
Wayne Jelley, causing Jelley's car to become airborne into the outside wall
at the end of the front stretch, tumbling a few times, but making hard
contact with the steel boiler plate. A red flag ensued for several minutes,
but Jelley climbed from his battered PMC under his own power, but a little
sore.

The field returned to green with gurney out front. But soon was going to be
hounded by the usual suspects. The first was the #32Q of mighty Matt Quinn.
Quinn took the top spot and began to pull away. But Tremont and Bachetti
were slicing and dicing through the field to get to Quinn before he left the
zip code. To their luck, the field was slowed once again for caution as
contact left the #94 of Ray Hoard was delegated pit side with damage.

That put the Berkshire Bullet of Andy Bachetti in the tire tracks of the
#32Q. But the Old Forge Powersports #4 was hooked up to the bottom groove,
and soon Quinn hand to settle for runner up, and Bachetti crossed the
checkers first, his 3rd win of 2006. Quinn crossed the line second,
followed by J.R. Heffner, Kenny Tremont, and Donnie Corellis rounding out
the top five.

Jason Casey held of the late race challenge from Mike Middleton to take his
first career 20 lap Pro Stock victory! Behind the #324 was Middleton's #38,
followed by Chris Crews, Rob Langevin, and Kevin Arnold completing the top
5. Brian Keough picked up his 3rd win of '06 in the 10 lap Limited Pro
Stocks. Keough was followed by George Miles, Jerry Helms, Jim Keough, and
Dirk LaPierre.

The PureStocks were the 'opening act' of the night's program, and as usual,
plenty of exciting racing. PureStock #1 was captured by Tom Harkins. PS#2
was won by the #93 of Jay Casey. PureStock #3 saw the Wiley One, Pete
Wiegand capture his 7th victory this year, while in PS#4 Jesse Murphy
captured his 4th win of '06.

Everyone at Lebanon Valley would like to wish Fox23 Sports intern Trevor
Gavin Good Luck! He will heading back to college to complete his degree,
then hopefully return to the Capital District, and to local racing! We give
him 2 thumbs up and an A+ for all his hard work during his internship!

Next Saturday Night is gonna be a "don't miss this one" event, as Aladco and

ones get to be just like their favorite dirt track stars, and ride aboard
the race cars around the famed Valley of Speed with their favorite drivers.

Heffner Finally Visits Victory Lane; Corellis Takes 358's
Saturday July 15, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

West Lebanon, NY: There were no fireworks on the schedule for the night's
program, but there sure were fireworks on the track, as Rifenburg
Construction presented the action along with the Benjamin Moore Paints 358
Super Series.

It took nearly 9 weeks, or almost half the season for J.R. Heffner to drive
to victory lane, but it took a lot of hard work, and a little bit of luck to
finally break through in 2006.

The 30 lap Rifenburg Construction Modified feature event took to the Valley
of Speed, with Denny Soltis and Russ Reckner at the helm. At the drop of
the green, Reckner charged out front, but Reckner was gonna get a chance to
stretch it out as a multi-car pile up brought out the first caution in turns
3 and 4. When the mess was cleaned up, and most cars back on track, the
green dropped again, this time, the caution waited till lap two, when
several more cars got bobbled up, causing a few more repairs. By lap 4, the
race was finally under way, and this time Reckner took his Hough Motors #34R
to the lead, then to another zip code.

Nothing was going to slow this kid down on his way to his first modified win
of his career, except for another caution flag; and there was. The first
was for the #99m of Jeremy Matthies, and then a lap later; Denny Soltis'
ride finally lost steam and was forced pit side. That made for a 4 lap
shoot out for the win. Sitting back in 2nd, was Heffner, who quietly march
his way into the runner-up spot. And at the drop of the green, he began the
challenge. The ACS Express tried high, and low, but Reckner was holding
strong. Finally, with two to go, slight contact going into three caused
Reckner to check up, allowing for the A. Callarusso and Sons #74 to the
bottom, and past Reckner for the lead. At the checkers, Heffner took his
first for 2006, followed by a strong run for Reckner. Keith Flach's #43 ran
an impressive 3rd, followed by another rookie, Mark Flach Jr's #77F. Andy
Bachetti charged through the field after spending several caution flag laps
in the pits with damage to capture a well deserved 5th place finish.

The Benjamin Moore 358 Super Series had their 24 lap feature earlier in the
evening, and the action was just as interesting. Kory Gurney and Mark
Pullen brought the field to the start. It didn't take long for the sparks
to fly, and the field scrambled to vie for positions. As the field charged
down the backstretch, contact with the #32 of Quinn and the #1 of Sean
Gallivan, caused the field to check up; as several cars spun to avoid
contact. Buddy Henke's #24H suffered the most damage, and was out of the
event. After that clean up, the green fell again, but multiple contact with
several cars caused the #30 of Pullen suffer severe damage, relegating him
pit side for the night. Bu the race belonged to the Rifenburg #21 of Donnie
Corellis, who got to the front first, and checked out. He led the last 13
laps and took his first win in the 358's for '06. J.R Heffner took home
second place honors, while Andy Bachetti marches to a 3rd place run. Forth
place was captured by Roy Bridge, and Matt Quinn rallied back to finish 5th.

The Pro Stocks had their excitement as the show came to a brief halt on lap
8 as part time driver Adam Haas lost control of his #55 after contact with
the outside wall in turn 3, and rode the wall all the way around into turn 4
on two wheels. But his ride wasn't over, as he took down a support pole,
causing the car to flip several times, finally coming to a rest on its roof
at the head of the front stretch. After several seconds, the car burst into
flames, but Haas was already making his exit from the car, and he got out
safely with just minor bruises. The race continued, Rob Yetman had already
procured the lead, and just set sail with the cruise control on to take his
6th victory of 2006. Jay Corbin battled his way to 2nd, 3rd was Rob
Langevin, 4th across the line was Paul LaRochelle, with an excellent run to
fifth place for the #243 of Victor Hopkins.

The Sportsman division had their share of excitement as well as a lap 1
incident in treturous turn 3 had the field come to a standstill as the #9 of
Ed Harkin wedged his front end into the door window of the #16 of Kyle
Hoffman. After several minutes to get the two separated, the field was back
under way. But this night belonged to the #39 of Ryan Larkin who took his
first win of the year, and the 7th different winner in '06. Jeff Watson
took 2nd, as Frankie Harper charged to take 3rd. 4th across the line was
K.C. Goewey, followed by the #00 of Chris Kokosa.

The Limited Pro Stocks were captured by George Miles, taking his 5th win of
the year. The Pure Stocks also had an action packed night of racing.
Nearly 45 cars took to the speedway, the winners were: PS# 1-Robert Hammell
(1st win), PS# 2-Lynn Wesley (1st win), PS# 3-Pete Wiegand (6th win), and
PS# 4-Dave Streibel (3rd win).

The Outlaws are coming to the High banks of Lebanon Valley. Sunday July
23rd, the World of Outlaws will take over the Valley of Speed and try and
take over as the King of the Valley. Tickets are going fast, so get your
reserved seats now, while they last!

On Saturday July 22nd, it's GE Plastics and Snap-On Tools night with a
special Autograph Night, and a $3,000.00 to win Modified feature event.

actions. Get your tickets now.

"Wild Child" Tames the High Banks to Take the First Ever Bud Classic

Saturday July 8, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott
West Lebanon, NY: Lebanon Valley Speedway played host to the 100 lap Big
Block Modified "Bud Classic", the first time ever held on a Saturday Night,
along with a regular racing program. Fans were treated to
'edge-of-your-seat' racing all night long only to be treated to a classic
Valley battle for 100 laps.

Clear skies and bright sun have finally returned to Upstate New York, and
the Valley of Speed took full advantage by packing the stands full of fans,
and packing the track full of fantastic racing. But the night capper had
everything; strategy, patience, and a dash of luck.

John Ruchel and Denny Soltis took the field of 31 cars to the green for the
100 lap Bud Classic presented by Budweiser. The caution flew only a few
times throughout the event, the first came just 4 laps in, as the 34R of
Russ Reckner came to a stop on the backstretch suffering from a broken
rear-end gear. On the subsequent restart, the #55K of Mike King took the
helm of the ship and drove to the front; a spot in which he would hold right
through lap 36. But pressure was coming, and it wasn't long before the
Valley bad Boys made an appearance from deep in the pack. At that point
Lorne Browe, piloting his #14, took the point from King to try and steal the
show away.

But the caution flew by lap 42 for the first of several blown tires, this
time it was the #77F of Mark Flach. That bunched the field, pulling the
lead that Browe had built up, right down to nothing. And when the car lined
up for the restart, the usual suspects of J.R. Heffner, Andy Bachetti, and
Kenny Tremont were right there in the top five, ready to take over the helm.

On the restart, Bachetti jumped into second, then was going for the top spot
from Browe, when contact between the #45J of Wayne Jelley and Tremont forced
another caution as Jelley suffered a broken rear-end as well, taking him out
of the event. This lined up the "Wild Child" right on Browe's bumper, and
on the next restart, it took a lap or two, but the Albreida Waste #4 took
the top spot just in time for the next caution brought out by the #74 of
Heffner with a flat right rear tire. Once the field hit the halfway mark,
every seemed to settle in to make sure they had enough to go the distance.

Tremont moved into the third running spot by lap 63 behind the L. Browe
Paving #14, who was following Bachetti's lead. Browe, a 'rookie' Big Block
Modified pilot, settled into following the #4's tire tracks and began to
separate himself from the S&S Asphalt #115 running in 3rd. Lap traffic, and
attrition began to hamper Bachetti's progress, but he used patience to get
through the slower cars, and occasional tire debris from blown tires.
Bachetti drove like a veteran, and his patience paid off, taking the first
ever Bud Classic 100, and the mighty big $6,000.00 paycheck too.

Browe's #14 crossed the line 2nd, followed by Tremont, Eddie Marshall, and
Tim Dwyer completing the top 5.

The Sportsman class had their 20 lap feature event earlier in the night. As
Danny Sanchez held the top spot from the drop of the green flag, he tried
all he could to hold off the mid race charge from Chris Tryon's #5, but
Tryon was too much and took over from Sanchez on lap 12. Tryon put on the
afterburners, and covered the field even in the closing laps with the #25
and #22 pressuring. But it was going to be Tryon to the checkers first,
followed by Frankie Harper. Sanchez battled his way into third, while Jeff
Watson and Kyle Hoffman rounded out the top 5.

The Pro Stocks put on a show on their own, as their 20 lap feature took to
the Valley of Speed. Mike Middleton took the top spot at the beginning, but
it didn't take long for everyone else to pressure him for the helm. Like a
mutiny declared on a pirate ship, the lead was tossed back and forth as much
as a restrictor plate race at Daytona. But it was the last 6 laps that made
the crown throughout the seats they bought, and just stood to watch this
wheel to wheel battle with the Rob and Rob Show. It was Speed at the point,
but Yetman wanted it; and so it began, getting more and more heated as the
laps wound down. On the white flag lap, the make contact going into turn 3,
Speed shimmies up the track a little, Yetman squeezes in on the bottom
groove, they trade paint again as the head for the home stretch. Back and
forth, door to door, wheel to wheel, rubbing, banging, and standing on the
gas to the checkers. At the line, it was the #7 of Yetman taking the win by
about a foot and a half. After the checkers, Yetman blew his right front,
causing him to veer into the #24 on the cool down lap in turn one, sending
both into the outside wall, causing minor damage.

Speed, unhappy with the outcome, came back up to the front stretch after
going over the scales, only to be told he finished second. He sped off,
obviously unhappy with the outcome. Yetman crossed the line first, followed
by Speed's #24. Third was Paul LaRochelle, Mike Middleton, and Rick Dempsey
completed the front 5. The finish was still listed as "Unofficial" at press
time. The Limited Pro Stocks also had their 10 lap event, as Nick Hilt took
his 3rd win of 2006 over John Santolin, Brian Keough, Justin Herron, and
Frankie Twing getting his first top 5 finish.

The Pure Stock Division also had their 8 lap features, packing over 50 cars
into 4 events. The winners were: Pure Stock #1 Mike Eichstedt, PS# 2 Lou
Ganczar, PS# 3 Pete Wiegand, his 5th on the year, and Pure Stock #4 was
captured by Larry Ball, his first of 2006.

Track crews immediately began transforming the speedway for the annual
return of the USHRA Monster Truck Summer Nationals starting Monday July
10th, 11th, and 12th. Then its right back to the High Banks Saturday July
15th as Rifenberg Construction presents a huge night of racing in all
classes, including the Benjamin Moore 358 Super Series returning for another
engagement.

Berger, Salisbury, and Goewey "Roll" to Wins on Freihofer Night
Saturday July 1, 2006 - By Rodney Rescott

West Lebanon, NY: There is nothing like the seat smell of freshly baked
cookies; especially when they are made by the best, or they do it at the
race track. Freihofer Baking Company and Wohrle's Foods presented a Night
of Features along with the Benjamin Moore paints 358 Super Series.

With a couple of chocolate chip cookies in one hand, and the green flag in
the other, it was time to go racing. Denny Soltis aboard his familiar #0
brought the field to the green. The field was slowed only by one caution on
lap two involving the unsponsored #9 of Mark Pullen, spinning off turn four.
All cars were able to continue.

At the green, Solis went back to work, but the PLT #60 of Brian Berger was
not going to finish second again, and dropped to the bottom groove to take
over the top spot with just 5 laps in the books. The usual suspects deep in
the field were struggling to get through the pack to get to the front.
Kenny Tremont, who was piloting a back-up Flach Cranes #43 due to an
incident in the heats with the #4 of Bachetti at the start of the qualifier.
The S&S Asphalt 115 was totaled as he made head-on contact with the turn 4
wall at speed, Bachetti was able to continue, but was relegated to his pit
after being penalized for rough riding.

The #4 and the #43T of Tremont started from the rear, and was slow going to
get to the front, especially with no cautions. Bachetti could only manage
an 8th place finish, while Tremont managed a 14th. Ronnie Dwyer drove his
Bedell Racing Engines #88D to the second position to try and run down the
race leader Berger, but in the waning laps, ran out of tires and passed by
the hard charging Marshall Oil #98 of Eddie Marshall.

But at the end of 30 laps, it was the #60 of Brian Berger finally capturing
his first win of 2006. Marshall powered his way into 2nd; 3rd was Dwyer.
John Hewitt and Guy Sheldon rounded out the top 5.

The Benjamin Moore 358's took to the Valley of Speed for another 24 lap
feature event. This time the pole sitter; Silly Engine powered, Harrington
Farms #24s of Rich Salisbury took control at the green, and set sail to
another zip code; as everyone else played catch-up. There was no one that
was gonna come close, as Salisbury had the field covered. The #24s crossed
the line first with Donnie Corellis closing in fast, only to run out of time
and came home second. Third was the #4 of Andy Bachetti, followed by Kenny
Tremont, and the #5 of J.R. Heffner.

The Sportsman division had their 20 lap feature event looked well in hand
for the defending champ Art Collins aboard his familiar #68, but a stout O2
Solutions, Bedell Racing Engines #02 driven by K.C. Goewey ran the Alligator
down, and passed him for the lead with just 4 laps remaining. And it was
all over by the cryin', as Goewey charged to the win, followed by another
impressive charge by Jeff Watson. Collins crossed the line 3rd, followed by
Frank Harper, and Chris Tryon.

Jay Corbin struck while the iron was hot, and snuck in to take the win in
the Pro Stock division. Corbin captured his 2nd win of the year, with Don
Carlson finishing a strong 2nd, followed by Rob Yetman, Paul LaRochelle, and
Rob Langevin capping off the top 5.

Nick Hilt held off a late race charge by Brian Keough in the Limited Pro

The Valley is Lit Up With Fireworks; Tremont Explodes Into Victory Lane

Saturday June 24, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott
New Lebanon, NY: A huge crowd packed the stands for the annual Fireworks
spectacular, and there was some in the sky too! The nearly standing room
only crowd didn't need their seats as all the divisions put on a show from
beginning to end. This week, it was all the cagey veterans that conquered
the High Banks in all 3 main divisions.

Berkshire Bank and Capitol Tractor presented the program of racing action in
all divisions, as well as a gigantic fireworks display that light up the
sky! All eyes moved from the fantastic firework display, to the Carquest
$3,000 to win Modified 30 lap feature event. The mighty modifieds took to
the Valley of Speed with the drop of the green, everyone was looking to see
who was gonna have the fast car of the night.

The #45 of Wayne jelly made the first move towards the front from his 4th
row starting position, as he began weaving his way through the field to the
front. In tow behind Jelley was the #74 of J.R. Heffner, the #1A of Tim
Dwyer, the #4 of Andy Bachetti, and the Slingshot, Kenny Tremont aboard his
legendary #115. Only a few short cautions slowed the field involving Dave
Leckonby, and later Matt Quinn.

On a restart around lap 11, Jelley finally took over the top spot from the
#87 of hector Stratton, and began to pull away. Deep in the field, Bachetti
and Tremont were making their presents known, charging inside and outside,
but it was Tremont with a clear advance over the Wild child early. By the
time Tremont got to the front, Jelley had firm control over the lead, and
had put a few car lengths between himself and the rest of the field, but
that all evaporated quickly when the final caution came out on lap 28 for
Quinn, who slowed on the front stretch with motor problems. That put
Tremont right on the bumper of the #45 for a two lap shoot-out. At the drop
of the green, Jelley stretch a 2 car-length lead, but by turn one, the #115
dove to the inside to challenge. The crowd came to their feet, as the two
charged down the backstretch slicing and dicing try to secure the victory.

The white flag flew as Jelley raced into to turn 1, Tremont tried the
outside, but Jelley moved to block, Tremont then dove to the bottom coming
out of 2, blocked again. This merely invigorated the rather stale Tremont
as of late, and a flash of the Tremont of old emerged as he charged almost
full throttle to the top of turn 3, only to be blocked again, but he applied
a little Valley knowledge in turn 4, and dove to the very bottom of the
speedway, making a bee-line for the finish line, carrying his momentum down
the front stretch, the Slingshot lived up to the name once again, as Tremont
captured the win and the $3,000.00 Carquest payday.

"That was fun." explained Tremont in victory lane. "Wayne tried everything
he could, but I just had a better bite on the bottom. It just feels good to
be back here again." Tremont, capturing only his 2nd win of 2006, was 1st
over the line followed by the #45 of Jelley. Third was Stratton, followed
by Bachetti, and Ron Dwyer.

The Sportsman division took to the High Banks for their 20 lap feature
event. This time the veteran (not old) took advantage of his 4th row
starting spot to take home the victory. Chris Kokosa charged through the
filed from the eighth spot to take the Kokosa Fuels #00 to the front by lap
7. And after that, it was all over but the autograph line. No one was
coming close to the Berkshire Bullet, not even the O2 of K.C. Goewey as he
made a late race charge, but to no avail. Kokosa took his 2nd win of 2006,
followed by Goewey. A strong 3rd by Chad Pierce's #83, 4th was Neil
Stratton, followed by Brian Sandstedt.

The cagey veterans were on fire all night, even as the Pro Stocks took to
the Valley of Speed for their 20 lap feature event. This time, a long delay
held the field at the start after completing lap 1, a 6 car jingle jumbled
the cars from 3rd on back, with the #117b of Rob Langevin coming to rest on
top of the #5 of Chris Crews. After a short delay in getting the cars
separated, the green flew again. At the helm was Lori Cary, but it was to
be short lived, as she later spun a handful of laps later, relegating her to
the back of the field. That handed the front row seat over to Jon Routhier
aboard his #315. And he didn't want to give it up, as several cars made a
run to the front to try and take the top spot from his, but he was soon to
be surrounded by some tough company. Rob Yetman made his way to the front,
bringing with him the 'ol Buzzard of Jimmy Langenback and several others.
But it was the attack of the veterans that brought the crowd to their feet.

Kevin Arnold nearly stole the show, but faded to fourth with Routhier,
Yetman and Langenback left to battler it out. And just as the Modifieds
proved earlier, it was almost like déjà vu as a last lap battle ensued, and
by the time they got to the end of the backstretch, it was the #7 and the
#54L door to door for the win. Yetman blocked low, Langenback went high,
and then dove down low for the run, slight contact between the two was all
the 'ol Buzzard needed, bringing the #54L to victory lane for his first win
of 2006. 2nd across the line was Routhier, followed by Yetman, Paul
LaRochelle, and Arnold rounding out the top 5.

The Limited Pro Stocks had there 10 lap shootout, as the #311 stole the win
in the later laps for his 2nd of the year. The top 5 were Brian Keough,
John Santolin, Nick Hilt, George Miles Jr., and Justin Herron.

The PureStocks once again put on a show, as the 4 races of the 50 cars
presented. PureStock #1 was captured by the #86 of Jerry Helms Jr; PS#2 was
won by the #3 of Mark Stevens. PureStock #3 was taken by the #04 of Tom
Harkins, and PS#4 was won by Brian Houghtaling's #28.

With the weather finally acting like summer, the Valley of Speed is all
geared up for tons of racing action. Next week is the Freihofer Baking
Company's night of Features, along with the Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super

The "EVE" Takes Over the High Banks!
Tuesday June 20, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: A brief passing storm couldn't cool off the hot action of
the annual return of the "Eve of Destruction" at the famed Lebanon Valley
Speedway. The High Banks were transformed into a destructive force for ages
to enjoy.

The carnage began after a short delay, and then the fans piled into their
seats and the isles, as it was standing room only for the unusual program of
stunts, races, and tons of fire and explosions.

Waste Management and Heavy Haulers presented the night that started with the
ever popular 4 cylinder 20 lap feature event. Nearly 50 4 cylinder autos
took to the Valley Speed and the action got off to a heated start. Several
cautions flew for spins, crashes, and even multi-car simultaneous roll-overs
down the front stretch in front of the huge crowd. When the drivers emerged
from their mangled cars unharmed, other than a little dizzy, the crowd
roared and cheered their approval. The race was finished by a last lap pass
giving the victory, and a $200.00 check to Greg Davis' #172. The top 5 were
Davis, Frank Sorrento, Todd Goldstein, Ray Hall, and Jim Williams.

The packed house was also treated to several stunts provided Stuntmaster.com
productions, with Crash Moreau at the helm, he drove through several parked
cars standing on their sides and ends with huge expositions and fire, but
emerged unharmed to the cheers.

Another fan favorite was the Trailer Race whereas cars are required to
attach a trailer, camper, or boat and trailer and complete a 20 lap event
without loosing it. If you lose it, you lose the race. With several
abandoned trailers and boats littering the speedway, the competitors weaved
their way through the debris to take the checkers with another last lap pass
by Bill Davis, capturing the $1000.00 pay off. The top 5 were Davis, Kevin
Winters, Chrissy Hilt, Robert Gibson, and Al Relyea

The famed School Bus Race, celebrating the end of another school year for
the kids, took to the track for their 12 lap $1000.00 feature. Another
crowd pleaser, as the filed, stuffed full of local race drivers, as well as
some "hired guns" attacked the High Banks with some breathless action. With
a charge from the back of the pack, Todd Goldstein of East Greenbush,
powered his way to the front on lap 11, to take the lead from Nassau's Danny
Burl, and never looked back. Goldstein took the checkers, followed by Rob
Maxon, then Burl.

The night was capped off by several additional events. First stuntman,
Crash Moreau drove a 20 foot motor home, complete with attached boat and
trailer, to its demise by launching it at speeds in excess of 60 mph, over a
25 foot ramp into rows of parked cars. He managed to clear 4 full rows of
the cars parked nose to tail before coming to an abrupt stop. He emerged
from the wreckage to the roar of the crowd before being loaded into the
ambulance for precautionary reasons.

Then the Demo Derbies took to the track. First was the traditional derby,
won by James Hatch, then a special "Minivan" Demo made it first ever
appearance, Craig Westerfelt took the win. There was also a Reverse Race
won by Dan Burl, and a Roll-Over Contest won by Johnny Duncan. The night
came to a close with the lights going down, and the heat cranked up as the
"Green Momba" Jet Car strapped itself to a Chrysler New Yorker, and went
full throttle! When the smoke, fire, and mass of sparks came to a rest,
there was nothing left to the Mopar but a pile of melted metal.

With the first of several special shows coming to a close, it was just a
dent in the door of the action yet to come. The next big event on the
schedule is the coming Saturday Night, as its all Fireworks, Fireworks, and
Fireworks. Presented by Berkshire Bank and Capital Tractor, along with a
Carquest $3,000.00 to win Modified special. Then on July 8th, it's the
first even regular Saturday Night $6,000.00 to win 100 lap Modified Bud
Classic present by Budweiser.

Also in July is the return of the USHRA Monster Truck Summer Nationals July
10th, 11th, and 12th. Tickets are on sale now, but are going fast for this
3 night event. If that weren't enough, as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car
Series returns to the Valley of Speed on Sunday July 23rd. These seats are
going fast too, as all seats are reserved!

Yetman Takes "Classic", Gilardi and Watson Take First of '06

Saturday June 17, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott
New Lebanon, NY: "Summer" finally made an appearance in Upstate New York,
bringing with it the hot temperatures, and the hot racing action at the
Valley of Speed. A huge crowd nearly filled the stands to capacity to see
the action get heated up in every division presented by Dougherty Brothers
Construction and DMC Racing Products.

The spotlights were on the Modifieds once again, as the field of 26 took to
the High Banks with a couple of Flach's on the front row. Keith and Mark
Flach Jr. brought the field to the green, but 3 caution flags in just 2 laps
completed made for a long night for many contenders. The biggest shake-up
was with Andy Bachetti, J.R. Heffner, and Kenny Tremont involved in separate
incidents, relegating them to the back of the field with damaged race cars.

With these font runners left to limp around the speedway, back at the front,
Paul Gilardi took control of the point from his 4th starting position by lap
5, and he was gone. Hot on his heals all race was the "Mighty" Matt Quinn,
but he wasn't gonna deny the #87X from his first win of 2006, only his 2nd
of his career.

With the win, along came a Gift Certificate for a Hoosier Tire provided by
DMC Racing products. Following Gilardi to the stripe was Quinn. 3rd was a
charging Russ Reckner, Mark Flach Jr. was 4th, with John Hewitt completed
the top hand full.

The Benjamin Moore 358 Super Series was also on tap for a 24 lap feature
event. And once again it was the Wild Child Andy Bachetti charging to the
front from the 5th row to take the victory over J.R. Heffner, Matt Quinn,
Keith Flach, and Wayne Jelley in fifth. Notable, Mark Pullen in his #30
"One Man Crew" Special, was the last car on the lead lap in 12th, Kenny
Tremont faded from the top 5 to finish 15th.

The Sportsman Division made their way on the High Banks for their 20 lap
feature. Danny Sanchez and Chad Pierce brought the field to the green; the
cautions flew early and often. By lap three, Pierce had spun putting
himself to the rear of the field along with Sanchez. Other notables were
the #00 of Chris Kokosa and the #25 of Frankie Harper, both involved in
separate incidents, also had to start from the back.

That left the race wide open, so Kyle Hoffman drove his #16 to the front,
and stayed there until Jeff Watson decided it was his turn at the top spot.
A great battle between the two ensued, but it was Watson who powered to the
front, and never looked back. Jeff Watson took the checkers, with Hoffman
in tow. K.C. Goewey crossed the line 3rd, Ryan Larkin finished 4th, and
Alan Houghtaling rounded out the top 5. Notables, Kokosa charged his way
back through the field to finish 6th, Kevin lynch drove his #09 to a 7th
place finish, Kory Sandstedt, Ed Harkin, and Carmon Carnibucci completed the
top 10. Watson also receive a gift certificate from DMC for an American
Racer Tire, which Watson said would be put to immediate use!

The featured event of the night was the Pro Stock "Bubba Tanner Classic"
presented by DMC Racing Products. This 23 lap event had a payoff of an
additional $500.00, along with a nearly 3 foot tall trophy. And once again,
the cream rose to the top; as Rob Yetman's domination at the Valley of Speed
continued with his 4th win of 2006. A strong 2nd place finish for Jason
Casey, with Jay Corbin, Rob Langevin and Jon Routhier completing the top
nickel. Notable, Dwayne Quennville brought the crowd to its feet when he
drove his #23 almost "out of the park" during the feature event. He would
be ok, but the car wasn't so lucky.

George Miles Jr took his 4th Limited Pro Stock win of 2006, with the #17 of
Nick Hilt, Brian Keough, Justin Herron, and Dirk LaPierre completed the top 5.

The Pure Stocks once again brought the crowd to their feet, as over 55 cars
took to the speedway in 4 different events. Pure Stock #1 saw Paul Engwer
and Chip Martin Battle it out for the win, but it was Engwer with a last lap
pass to take the win. Dan Olds powered his way to the front with his #85 to
take his fist win of 2006 in pure Stock #2. Chrissy Hilt and Matt Humes
battled for honors in Pure Stock #3, but Humes prevailed taking his 2nd of
2006. And Brian Houghtaling drove his #28 to the checkers with Randy Myers
and Shannon McDermott crossing the line behind in nearly a photo finish.

It's time for the annual return of 'The Eve of Destruction' this Tuesday
June 20th. Waste Management and Heavy Hauler bring the mayhem with plenty
of action and fun all night long. Tickets are still available but are going
fast. There will be a 4 cylinder race added to the card for more racing
excitement.

Then its Fireworks, Fireworks, Fireworks! Berkshire Bank and Capitol
Tractor present a night of amazing fireworks, along with a special $3,000.00
to win CARQUEST Modified Special.

BUBBA TANNER CLASSIC SET FOR SATURDAY AT LEBANON VALLEY
DMC Racing Products to present 23-lap, $500 to win Pro Stock Special

ADAMS, MA - Bubba Tanner was one of the great Pro Stock competitors at the
Lebanon Valley Speedway. His fiery personality and hard driving style made
him a fan favorite any time the 23B set out on the track. Bubba passed away
this past winter after a long illness, but this Saturday, the Pro Stocks
will run an event in his honor; the Bubba Tanner Classic, presented by DMC
Racing Products.

The Pro Stocks will be running for a winner's check of $500 for the 23-lap
extra distance event. The class is arguably one of the most entertaining and
exciting races on any given Saturday night at the Valley. Veterans like
Langenback, Yetman, Crews and LaRochelle bump and bang with young guns such
as Corbin, Arnold, Casey, Cary, Middleton and others hoping to be the first
to the checkered flag.

"Bubba was always someone I loved to watch race when I was a kid growing
up," Bobby Chalmers, owner of DMC Racing Product said. "Then he became a
customer of ours here at DMC and I feel this is a great way to show some
appreciation to him for all the great races he put on at the Valley."

Several drivers competing in Saturday's event once competed against Bubba.
The ageless veteran, Jimmy Langenback, remembers fondly running against his
Pittsfield, MA neighbor.

"Bubba was a very competitive driver, probably one of the best natural
talents to come along during that era," Langenback said. "He became the man
to beat. I took great honor in winning the Dirt Legal event on Race of Kings
Weekend in the early 90's because Bubba was the man in the class at the
time."

There is hope that this will be an annual event, but every driver would love
to say they won the first Bubba Tanner Classic, presented by DMC Racing
Products.

"It would be an honor to say I won the first race in honor of Bubba,"
Langenback said. "He was just one of the best to come from our area, and I
cannot wait for the chance to run Saturday."

Corellis Charges to Victory; Harkin and Cruz Get Their First
Saturday June 10, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

West Lebanon, NY: Clear skies and a alight breeze brought out the racing
faithful, as Lebanon Valley Speedway got in a full card of racing without
the rain interrupting! Anderson Equipment, Taconic DSL and Pit Stop
Automotive presented the program of all classes including a PureStock Dash
presented by Boomer's Performance.

The modifieds took to the speedway for their 30 lap feature event of the
night. And not a fan was seated as the action was hot and heavy early in
the event. Paul Gilardi and Lorne Browe brought the field to green, but
Gilardi couldn't negotiate the first turn bringing out the first of several
cautions throughout the 30 laps feature. Once the green dropped again, it
was Lorne Browe's #14 taking the helm with Russ Reckner in hot pursuit.
With that battle for the top spot in the spotlight, all eyes were watching
the charge from deep in the field.

The charge to the front was headed by the Mighty Matt Quinn, with Donnie
Corellis, Andy Bachetti, and Kenny Tremont mirroring each other as they made
their way through the field to the front of the class. The Browe Paving #14
just couldn't shake Reckner's #34R throughout the first half of the event,
but their battle became overshadowed with the 4 horseman making their
presents known. By half way, you could through a blanket over the top 5 all
vying for that top spot.

But Reckner's night came to an unexpected end as Quinn's #20 lost its breaks
entering turn 3. The collision caused both cars to retire early from the
event with just 7 laps remaining. That put the Wild Child, Andy Bachetti
right on the bumper of Browe. As the green flew once more, the battle
ensued, but Bachetti just couldn't get a good run past the #14 to complete
the pass. This gave Corellis the opportunity he was waiting for, as he made
a dramatic outside to inside slide for life entering the treacherous turn 3,
and threaded the needle. At the exit of the fourth turn, it was all the #21
Rifenberg Construction PMC until the checkers fell.

Corellis captured his first for '06, followed by Bachetti, Kenny Tremont,
Lorne Browe, and Guy Sheldon rounded out the top 5.

The Sportsman Division was also on tap for their regular 20 lap event. With
nearly a caution free event, the 5th place starter, Ed Harkins made his way
to the front to capture his first of the season as well. Harkins #19 was
followed by Don Miller, Alan Houghtaling, K.C. Goewey, and Frankie Harper
completing the top 5.

The Pro Stocks saw Chris Crews' struggles all year finally get him into
victory lane. Following Crews across the line was Mike Middleton, Rob
Langevin, Robbie Speed and Paul LaRochelle. The Limited Pro Stocks was
captured by George Miles, his 3rd of the year.

The Pure Stock division was also on tap with over 50 cars in attendance.
Randy Myers captured his first victory for 2006 in Pure Stock#1. Dave
Steibel captured his 2nd of the year in Pure Stock#2. Pure Stock#3 saw the
legendary Pete Wiegand capture his 3rd win of 2006, his 45th of his career!
Pure Stock#4 saw Brian Houghtaling capture his first of the year as well.

The Boomer's Performance pure Stock Clash was also captured by the #78p of
Pete Wiegand.

DMC Racing Products, and Dougherty Brothers Construction bring the return of
the Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series, along with DMC presenting a
special $500.00 to win ProStock "Bubba Tanner Classic" 23 lap feature next

Tremont Returns to Victory Lane; Corbin Too, Tryon Takes His First!
Saturday May 27, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: Lebanon Valley Speedway put the warm, sunny weather to
good use, as the racers, and fans packed the Valley of Speed for a night of
hot action, a little controversy, and the return of a legend to victory
lane. Also, the near capacity crowd witnessed another different winner in
Pro Stocks, and a career first in the Sportsman Division. Oh yeah, the
358's had quite the show too.

Earthworm Equipment and Funplex Funpark presented the 30 lap, Modified
feature event. And as the field came to the green by Paul Gilardi and
Jeremy Matthias, by the time the field reached the 2nd turn, the "Sand Lake
Slingshot", Kenny Tremont finally had a car to contend for the victory, and
he wasn't shy in showing it. By the time the rest of the field made its
second circuit, Tremont already made quick work of Matthias and passed the
#87X to take over the top spot.

The field was slowed by a few cautions throughout the feature event. But
there was nothing that was going to deny Tremont from getting into the
winners circle for the first time in 2006. He wheeled his famous #115 Fane
Concrete, Dougherty Brothers Construction Bicknell acrossed the line first,
followed by a strong finish by Brian Berger. Berger's #60 was followed by
J.R. Heffner, Andy Bachetti, and Donnie Corellis to complete your top 5.

The Benjamin Moore 358 Super Series was also on tap, and the temperature
didn't drop after the sun went down, the action just kept heating up. The
#43 of Keith Flach brought the field to the green of their 24 lap feature
event. And by lap 6, J.R. Heffner drove his Goodemote #5 to the front, and
never looked back. Andy Bachetti and Donnie Corellis charged through the
field, but didn't have enough to get to Heffner. At the checkers, Heffner
crossed the line first, but was later disqualified in post-race inspection
due to illegal heads, giving the win to Bachetti. With Bachetti taking the
win, everyone else moved up one spot, giving second place to Donnie
Corellis, third was Ray Hoard, Roy Bridge, and Matt Quinn rounded out the
top 5.

The Funplex Funpark Sportsman 20 lap feature event produced a first time
winner, as Chris Tryon charged from his 4th starting position to take the
lead from Danny Burl on lap 5, and checked out on the field. Once out
front, there was no denying him the win. Following Tryon across the finish
line was Art Collins driving the Lavoy #3, third was Burl, but was also
disqualified in post-race inspection due to an illegal gear, giving third to
Ryan Larkin. An impressive fourth place went to Kevin Lynch aboard his #09,
followed by Jeff Watson to finish out the top 5.

The Pro Stock Action was also hot and heavy as defending champ Rob Yetman
had several rounds of bad luck, but charged back to finish just outside the
top 5. That left the door wide open for another different winner to reach
the famed winners circle at the high banks. Kevin Arnold, who also ran into
some trouble early in the event, was has been the only other winner in the
pro Stocks to date, other than Yetman, was relegated to a 9th place finish
due to damage. Jay Corbin decided it was his turn, and he took the lead at
about the halfway point, and covered the field to take the checkers. Don
Carlson and Paul LaRochelle tried several times to get Corbin, but came up
short as the finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Crossing the line 4th was
Mike Middleton, and Rob Langevin rounded out the top 5. Lori Carey, who
flipped her #96 on lap 12, was able to walk away with minor bumps and
bruises finishing in the 19th spot.

The Limited (Rookie) Pro Stocks saw another last lap battle for the win, but
this time it was Nick Hilt who was the strongest. Hilt took the win, the
first of 2006, followed by Kyle Hosier, George Miles Jr., Brian Keough, and
John Santolin as the top 5.

The Pure Stocks had well over 50 cars on tap to take the green, divided into
4 events. The winners of the Earthworm Equipment Pure Stock events were:
PS#1 Mike Eichstedt, Jesse Murphy took PS#2. Ps#3 was won by Pete Wiegand,
and PS#4 was taken by Kevin Winters.

See below for the complete finishes in all divisions.

Next week, Key Bank and Wohrle's, along with Boomer's Performance Pure Stock
Clash present the night of action at the High Banks of Lebanon Valley. For
more information, visit our website at www.LebanonValley.com, or call the
Speedway Offices at (518) 794-9606 or (518) 794-9965 during normal business hours.

The Wild Child Doubles Up; Sandstedt and Yetman Capture the Checkers
Saturday May 13, 2006 - By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: The Wild Child, Andy Bachetti lived up to the hype, and
the nickname, as he put on a show in both the Big Block Modifieds and the
Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series at the High Banks of Lebanon Valley
Speedway. Old Forge Powersports presented the action packed program in all
divisions.

A hardy crowd was on hand to witness the dominance of the #4 of Bachetti, as
he motored his way from deep in the field on the Big Block Modifieds to put
on a show for the fans. At the drop of the green, it was Dave Leckonby's
Bert Transmissions #44 at the helm, but it wasn't long till the first of
several cautions flews. But following each caution, Leckonby showed he had
the car to beat as he pulled away on the restarts. As the laps wore on, and
a few more short cautions came and went, the handle began to fade on the
#44. By lap 25, the race began to heat up as Donnie Corellis, Hector
Stratton, and the Wild Child were all there waiting to make their moves.

The #21 of Corellis was first to pressure Leckonby, which brought the #87 of
Stratton into the fray, but it was Bachetti, who was the man on the move,
and waited for the right opportunity, which came just three laps from the
end. Corellis tried the high groove to get around the #44, Stratton moved
in to block the bottom, But Bachetti made his own lane and made a 4 wide
pass for the lead in turn 4 with just 2 laps remaining.

The crowd was on their feet as the #4 Albreida Waste PMC powered his way
down the front stretch, and took over the top spot by turn 1. It was all
over from there. When the checkered flag flew, it was Bachetti crossing the
line 1st, 2nd was the Rifenberg #21 of Corellis, Leckonby finished 3rd,
followed by Stratton, and Ron Dwyer's #88D.

The Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series was also on tap. The usual
suspects made their presents known early. Donnie Corellis made his way to
the front early in the 24 lap event, and began to pull away. Charging
through the field was Bachetti, and the Mighty Matt Quinn aboard his #32Q
Bicknell. After an early race spin in turn 2, Quinn turned on the after
burners, and made the crowd take notice. But there was not enough time left
in the event, as Bachetti battled Corellis for the lead, and took over with
just 4 laps remaining. By the time Quinn got to third, it was too late.

Bachetti wins his 2nd feature of the night aboard his Old Forge Powersports
#4 with Corellis' #21 crossing the line 2nd. 3rd was Quinn, followed by
Wayne Jelley, and Kenny Tremont.

Brian Sandstedt powered his way to the front of the 20 lap Sportsman
feature, taking over the lead from Danny Sanchez' #63 after slight contact
on the backstretch with 2 laps remaining. At the checkers it was the #12,
followed by Jeff Watson. Art Collins driving the Lavoy Racing #3 was 3rd,
followed by Kyle Hoffman, and Chris Kokosa rounding out the top 5.

The full fendered cars were also on hand, as Rob Yetman takes his 3rd Pro
Stock victory of the season. Following Yetman across the line was the #24
of Robbie Speed, 3rd was Lori Carey. Rounding out the top 5 was Jason
Casey, and Jim Langenback. The Limited Pro Stocks saw Brian Keough return
to victory lane, the 1st for 2006. George Miles, nick Hilt, Justin Herron,
and Bob Gibson finished out the top 5.

The Pure Stockers also put on a fantastic show in their 4 events, with
nearly 50 cars on tap, the winners were: PS#1 Chris Stalker. PS#2 was
captured by Johnny Lane, while PS#3 was won by Tom Harkins. Pure Stock #4
was taken by Shannon McDermott, her 2nd win of '06.

The action at the Valley of Speed returns next Saturday night with a special
event. Waste Management and Lebanon Springs Excavating present the CARQUEST
$3,000.00 to win Big Block Modified Spectacular. All weekly divisions will
be on hand, including a special 4 cylinder Demo Derby to cap the night off.
The Front Gates will be open at 5:00pm, and the action on the track starts
at 6:00pm.

Jelley Wins Wild One; Arnold Breaks the Streak, and Goewey Returns to Checkers

Saturday May 6, 2006 – By: Rodney Rescott
New Lebanon, NY: A crowd of the racings devout battle the cool temperatures to witness a wild event at the Valley of Speed. Reality Check of NY and Quandt’s Food present a full night of action in every division, but it Wayne Jelley that stole the show.

The Modifieds took to the high banks for the 30 lap feature event with John Alberti’s 473 on the point with Kyle Sheldon along side. At the drop of the green, it didn’t take long for the action to begin. Before the field could complete the first lap, the caution flag flew as contact with the #55 of Mike king and the #99m of Jeremy Matthias in turn two scattering the field, but the #60 of Brian Berger, and the #4 of Andy Bachetti got the worst of it as Bachetti was towed to the pits for extensive repairs.

The green flew once again and the contenders began to make themselves known, but once again the yellow flew due to contact on the front stretch, and as the leaders got to turn two, the #44 of Dave Leckonby slowed due to the caution, but Alberti didn’t and contact was made sending both to the rear of the field. Both drivers were unhappy with going to the rear, and decided to retire for the night. The green flew once again, but as the crowd settled in, the crowd witnessed a scary crash on the front stretch as contact between the #34R of Russ Reckner and the #98 of Eddie Marshall sent Marshall’s ride hurdling into the outside wall and became airborne. The car eventually came to rest on it’s roof up against the safety fencing deep in turn one. After a few tense moments, Marshall emerged from the overturned car unscathed, just a little shaken.

Finally the race got back under way after a short red flag to clear the wreck, and it was Tim Dwyer at the helm in his #1A. But it didn’t take long for “Mr. Excitement” Wayne Jelley to make his presents know. He powered his K&F Modulars, Advance Auto Parts #45 PMC to the top spot and put the field behind him. He set sail all the way to the checkers, even with the hard charge of J.R. Heffner and Donnie Corellis in the later laps. But at the finish, Jelley covered the field with Heffner’s #74 crossing second, third was the #21 of Corellis; fourth was the #1A of Dwyer, and Guy Sheldon in the #42 rounded out the top 5.

The Sportsman division made their showing at the high banks, as the #O2 of K.C. Goewey, drove his O2 Solutions from green to checkers at the head of the field with hard charging Jeff Watson crossing second. Birthday boy Ed Harkin finished 3rd, with Ryan Larkin and Frank Harper rounding out the top 5.

The Rob Yetman strong hold at the Valley of Speed this year was finally broke, as the #76 of Kevin Arnold battled his way to the front, and captured his first checkers of 2006. Yetman managed a late race charge, but just came up a little short as he crossed the line 2nd. Jimmy Langenback finished 3rd followed by Jason Casey, and Paul Larochelle finishing 5th.

George Miles Jr. captured his 2nd win of ’06 as a last lap battled ensued between him and leader Nick Hilt. Door to door racing, along with a little fender banging, but it was the #1 of Miles taking the win by just a few inches. Hilt took 2nd, followed by john Santolin, Brian Keough, and Kyle Hosier.

The Pure Stock division was also out in full force, with some of the best shows of the night. Over 50 racers took to the high banks divided into 4 events. The four winning drivers this week were the #52 of Ryan Coon in Pure Stock #1. Pure Stock #2 was captured by the #013 of Jesse Murphy, while PS #3 was won by the #82 of Phil Wood. And finally, PS #4 was captured by Chrissy Hilt’s #49.

To round out the brisk but exciting racing night was the fan favorite 4 cylinders. And they did not disappoint, as the L&M Motors #292 of Marty Poole emerged from a 4 car battle to take the checkers.

Mark your calendars for this coming Saturday May 13th, as Old Forge Powersports presents the return of the Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series! All other classes will be on the slate, which promises to be a full, action packed evening of excitement, and good wheel to wheel racing.

As always; the gates open at 5:00 pm, and racing to begin at 6:00 pm. For more information on the schedule of events, or ticket information, visit our website at www.LebanonValley.com, or call the Speedway Offices at (518) 794-9606, or (518) 794-9965 during normal business hours.

Huge Night of Racing at the Valley Of Speed
Bachetti, and Quinn Take First; Yetman Goes 2 For 2!
Saturday April 29, 2006 – By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: Sunny skies and mild temperatures brought scores of fans to the High Banks at Lebanon Valley to see the hot action that was non stop all night long. Madsen’s Overhead Doors and Boomer’s Performance presented the full program, including the season opener for the Sportsman division, and the Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series.

With over 150 cars packed into the infield of the legendary high banks, space was at a premium, but there was plenty of racing action on the speedway. The 30 lap Madsen Overhead Doors/Boomer’s Performance Big Block Modified main event took the green flag with the “Mighty” Matt Quinn’s #20 at the point. When the field reached turns one, Quinn showed he was going to be a force all night. And with Quinn firmly in command, the attention drew back deep in the field as the “Wild Child” Andy Bachetti began a charge from the 8 row. Just ahead of him, coming through the filed as well was “Mr. Excitement” of Wayne Jelley.

By lap 10 the two had broke into the top 5 and began to reel in the mighty Quinn. A couple of cautions slowed the field on lap 11, and 13 allow the dynamite duo to cinch up onto the back bumper of the #20. By lap 20, it was a three way battle for the lead. Quinn was playing defense as the handle began to fade on the #20. On the offense were Jelley’s K&F Modulars #45J and the Albreida Waste #4 of the Wild Child. Lap 23 saw the three enter turns three all in row, by turn four, they were three wide for the lead. The crowd was on their feet and the three battled into the first turn. It was Bachetti who managed to grab the lead by turn two, with Jelley and Quinn hot on his heals.

But he was not to be denied, and Andy Bachetti crossed the line first, with Jelley and Quinn in 3rd. Finishing fourth was Ron Dwyer, and 5th was captured by “Fast” Eddie Marshall. “Wayne and I are good friends, and we raced each other clean. He gave me and Matt (Quinn) room to race. It was just a lot of fun” added Bachetti in victory lane. 6th place went to Donnie Corellis, followed by Guy Sheldon, J.R. Heffner, Lorne Browe, and Hector Stratton rounded out the top 10.

The Benjamin Moore 358 Super Series was also on tap at the Valley of Speed. That 24 lap feature was merely a carbon copy of the Big Block Modified showdown, this time Bachetti just didn’t have enough to get by the “Mighty” Quinn’s #32Q. The action was hot and heavy as Tom Faxon’s #171 brought the field to green but is was easy to see who the big guns were going to be. Faxon held the point till the #32Q came calling by lap 8. Quinn set sail to build a cushion from the charge of Bachetti and Jelley as they made their way through the field. But this time, a very excited Quinn had more than enough to take the checkers. “These guys work so hard, I’m just so exited to be here” Quinn stated in victory lane.

Quinn was first, followed by Bachetti, Jelley, Faxon, and Roy Bridge. Martin Roy was 6th, followed by J.R. Heffner, Rich Salisbury, Donnie Corellis, and Ted Teal rounded out the top 10.

The opening round for the Sportsman division was also on the schedule, delayed from last week. A week was worth the wait as the Stan & Fran’s, Kokosa Fuel Service #00 of Chris Kokosa returned to victory lane, his first in nearly 2 years. Kokosa easily covered the field, capturing the 20 lap feature. Following the #00 were Alan Houghtaling, Kory Sandstedt, Don Miller, and Kyle Hoffman. 6th was Frank Harper, followed by Neil Stratton, Kevin Lynch, Chris Tryon, and Carman Carnibucci rounded out the top 10.

Rob Yetman began another repeat of 2005, and he went back to back, winning his second feature of 2006 in as many weeks in the Pro Stocks. Yetman’s #7 was followed by Jimmy Langenback, Mike Middleton, Chris Crews, and Robbie Speed. 6th was Paul LaRochelle, 7th was Rob Langevin; a strong 8th was Lori Cary, followed by Henry Warner, and Victor Hopkins to complete the top 10.

The Limited Pro Stocks had Kyle Hosier capture his first win of 2006. Hosier was followed by George Miles, John Santolin, Nick Hilt and Brian Keough. Justin Herron, Frankie Twing, Jim Keough, Dirk LaPierre, and Eric Sbrega rounded out the top 10.

The Pure Stocks had over 50 cars in attendance, divided into 4 feature events. The action was also exciting to watch as PS#1 was won by Joe Landry. PS#2 saw Chris Stalker take the checkers, as Pete Wiegand took PS#3. And Pure Stock #4 was captured by Kevin Winters.

The 4 Cylinders return to the Valley of Speed on Saturday May 6th, as Reality Check of NY, and Quandt’s Food present the program with Big Block Mods, Sportsman, Pro/Limited Stocks, and Pure Stocks all on tap. The front gates will open at 5:00 pm, and racing by 6:00 pm.

Lebanon Valley’s Night Washed Out
Saturday April 22, 2006
By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: The much anticipated return of the Lebanon Valley Sportsman to the High Banks gets pushed back one more week due to rain. The continuous rainfall that began mid morning at the Valley of Speed, put much needed moisture into the grounds, but hampered running the program for a full night of racing.

“That is just gonna make for an even better show this weekend” commented track promoter Howard Commander. He was referring to the fact that for this weekends’ program; the Sportsman will not only be on tap for the start of their season, but also the Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series, presented by Boomer’s Performance and Madsen Overhead Doors will make their debut as well.

“The amount of racing along with all the different divisions will make for a fantastic night of racing for the whole family to enjoy” concluded Commander.

Saturday April 29th, 2006, Madsen Overhead Doors, and Boomer’s Performance Present the Benjamin Moore Paints 358 Super Series! All division will be on tap, including the beginning of the Sportsman Division Points Season. Gates open at 5:00pm, racing by 6:00pm.

Yetman Continues Streak; Hough Captures Big Pay Day
April 16, 2006
By: Rodney Rescott

New Lebanon, NY: Steve Hough drove his Hough Motors #34 to the biggest victory of his career, capturing Opening Night at Lebanon Valley Speedway, and taking home the CARQUEST $3,000.00 check for his efforts.

Wentworth Construction, L&M Motors, and Heavy Hauler presented the Opening Night festivities, capped off by a Modified battle between legendary Valley veteran Kenny Tremont, and Hough that was a just a hint at what’s in store for the rest of the 2006 season at LVS. A huge crowd was on hand to witness the action, with few using their seats by the end of the race.

Right from the start of the Maynard Forrette Memorial 31 lap feature event, Hough Motors teammates of Steve Hough and Russ Reckner took control at the green, and Hough started to defend his top spot. Reckner challenged for a few laps, but began to fade as the handling went away on his #34R. Back in the field, 12 time Champ Tremont aboard his S&S Asphalt #115 made his familiar charge to the front while deeper in the field, Andy Bachetti began picking through the field behind the wheel of his Albreida Waste #4. By lap 10, Tremont assumed the 2nd place spot, and began to pressure the leader.

So began the best edge-of-your-seat racing that the Valley has to offer and Tremont tried high, low, middle, and everything else to try and rattle Hough’s nerves, but to no avail. Hough fought back every advance that Tremont had to offer, including a few NASCAR like high-low slingshot moves to launch him into victory lane, and capture the $3,000.00 check from CARQUEST.

Tremont crossed the line second, followed by Bachetti’s #4, John Hewitt, and Eddie Marshall.

Also on tap was the Pro Stock’s as the wowed the crowd with 20 laps of door-to-door action. Rob Yetman continued his streak of Opening Day wins to 5, as he charged from his 5 row starting spot to capture the win. About halfway through the event, a scary crash at the head of the front stretch brought the field to a stop as the red flag was displayed after veteran driver Jay Casey made contact with the outside wall causing a violent flip down the frontstretch. When his #322 came to rest in its roof, a fire broke out causing an anxious moment for everyone, but Casey escaped unharmed, but was later transported to a local hospital after complaining of rib pain. He was listed as stable when last reported.

Following Yetman across the finish line was Jay Corbin, Paul LaRochelle, Jim Langenback, and Don Carlson rounding out the top 5.

The Pure Stocks were also on hand with nearly 60 cars competing for a win in 4 separate events. Opening Night’s winners were Shannon McDermott in her #2p, Al Relyea driving his #14p, Dave Streibel aboard his #073p, and #0p of Matt Humes.

The Limited (previously the Rookie) Pro Stocks 10 lap feature event went to George Miles piloting his #1R, his first for 2006. Following Miles was John Santolin, Brian Keough, Justin Herron, and Dick LaPierre rounded out the top 5.

The 4 Cylinders were also on tap, with Gregg Davis capturing that 15 lap event.

All Official complete finishes will be posted on our website shortly.

Next week is Opening Night for the Sportsman Division presented by Callanan Industries. As always, gates open at 5 pm, racing starts by 6:00 pm.
